I've worked closely with a pro for years and watched him with all caliber of players. Some people never get better but love lessons. Foley is subtle in his understanding of the swing; what is actually happening during the swing, and he seems to actually communicate that to people. His comments? about the left side and moving further left and the feet engaging the body are pretty good. This seminar was for college students so he talks about more than just the golf swing. What's the problem?

Thanks to all for the comments- especially like the Butch Harmon one! Sean is a fraud- I will stand by it-He says nothing of note- he repeats what he took from others- My issue is he seems arrogant- like he is the secret sauce- he is not!? Also love the comment about the 18 handicap that took lessons and never got better! LOL --He will be on the golf channel n a few years teaching 25 handicaps , he will have a full beard and a can of Carling Black Label in his hand!

After listening to him for 7 minutes, i would never want a? lesson from Sean Foley, even if it was free. He sounds like a "good-playing club pro", who only talks about himself and never actually tells you anything constructive. He makes his money by continuosly telling you stories. He has a pretty good talk but I can guarantee you that he will be telling people how he did not really know as much as he thought he did. The best players in the world still load? their right side and if you noticed Tiger at Bay hill, he is moving off and droping just like he did when he was winning all the time. He most likely got his information on face & path angles effect the flight of the ball from stack & tilt & stack & tilt got it from a book call The Physics of Golf from 1994. The path used? to be where the ball started when the balls were made of feathers & later rubber but the hard modern ball changed that. & still the ball does not start where the face points due to the ball not being perfectly elastic.

He has to say a proper draw is hit with an open clubface relative to the targetline and a proper? cut is hit with an closed face relative to the targetline but the clubface is closed relative to the swingpath when you are hitting a draw and the clubface is open in relatin to the swingpath when you are trying to fade it.

The initial start of ball flight is controlled by the path the club is traveling on...not the clubface angle (unless its EXTREMLY open or closed which is very rare). The curvature of the ball is caused by the club face angle in relation to the path its traveling on. Foley is twisting his words? around by referring to both target line or path line to make it sound like he's got something new for us all.....he doesn't!

His dad did not teach him how to shoot in the 60s when he was a kid. Tiger figured that out on his own, golf was easy for him. His dad could not have taught anyone else how to do what Tiger does. Case closed if you're a moron. He hired Haney and Haney is obviously terrible at teaching golf. As shown through his tv show where he worked with Barkley and Ray Romano? for six months each and didn't improve their games at all. And the whole time he's giving very dumb and worthless advice. Tiger is just grasping at straws. He does so much naturally that is doesn't matter what schmuck is "teaching" him. Tiger was shooting in the 60s when he was 13, nobody taught him that....

As for Sean Foley, based on what I've heard? and saw so far, I like him. What I like doesn't matter though, if Tiger rates Foley and stack and tilt, who are we to argue? Incidentally, it has never been officially announced that tiger is going for stack and tilt hook line and sinker, it's just assumed. Tigers swing isn't fixed. I know that because I know mechanics and I don't hear Foley talking about the right things. I know how things work inside the PGA system too. I don't need to hang around it any longer to understand it's silliness. Have you ever thought how rediculous it? is that you basically HAVE to be in the PGA system to teach golf? How is tiger's swing still off? Look at his performances ever since he started working with sean foley including the ryder cup! Did u catch the chevron world challenge?!? His swing looks alot more solid through the impact area than it has since 2000. If tiger woods is your pupil, then you've done alot more than "shake hands with the right people". So I guess I don't really believe that teachers should have to spend time to "get you." I don't know anything about the CPGA, but that's good that they allow you to be forward thinkers. I just think it's a little silly to be standing up and talking about how to live LIFE when all you've done is rise throught he ranks and shake the right hands so far. He hasn't accomplished anything with tiger yet. The swing is still? off. I have heard his methods though and they're no impressive to me. It doesn't get to what mechanically ails Tiger.
