What I work on in my swing revolves around a couple of very important videos on swing plane are "How to feel your swing plane; shawn clement", laid off or across the line; shawn clement" and "swing plane update; shawn clement"; they will get you out of trying to find positions? and get you to know you are in the right position to deliver to your target! All the best! Shawn

Hey. I have been going to the driving range and working on my swing. My grandpa is a very good golfer and he helps me take the club back on plane so it is in line with my feet at waist high. I noticed you are inside. Does? this affect your swing?
By: clemshaw. on 24 Oct 11, 15:08:58
Definitely a couple of short circuits going on here; you don't want to be thinking of the legs but simply focusing on the weight of the arm-club unit releasing towards the target; see "hammer through; shawn clement" as well as my latest? "farm hammer" video; then see my "how to focus" part 1 and 2 to make sure you are not focused on "not hitting the ground" as this would make you dig big time; you must be focused on target release or pay! See "baseball mental game for golf" too;

I tried this. and my club went straight into the ground 2 feet behind the ball and resurfaced about a foot in front of the ball. digging a? 6 inch deep canyon in the process... tried it a few times more with similar results. might be getting too much leg action? but having a hard time figuring out how and when to bend the knees. using momentum 100% to let the club move, but the whole catapult concept just makes my club rocket into the dirt.

completely off topic but it caught my eye...crossing the line? a bit or is it camera angle? i remember you talking about crossing it emphatically a while back. as always, thank you for bar none the best instruction available on the internet.

This makes alot of sense, and takes out all those thoughts of swing mechanics that tend to make the swing stiffer and problematic. I have also heard this called "natural" golf. I'm going to? practice it.

the? point of this video is not the idea of the head, feel free to correct me if i am wrong Shawn, but to me it seems that he is emphisizing the use of the lower body and the importance of the timing of firing the lower body in the swing,and if done to soon it will hamper your results, but if done correctly it will help. what we must remeber is that he is over exadurating this in order to make it evident what he is doing. in the actual swing you would not have this much movement

umm? yeah again another great tip. people what you must remember is neutons law, every action has an equal and opposite reaction. so how is this use full? by using your legs like Shawn demonstrates what you are actually doing is exerting force into the ground, and this force is being re-distributed from the ground into your body giving you more, and effortless power if done right. but if done wrong the power is exerted at the wrong time ressulting in poor results. age 17, 3.9 factor.

You are welcome and I have a video for this called? "hitting out of Divot; shawn clement" enjoy! Shawn
By: wrfisherman. on 21 Mar 11, 16:05:03
Thanks for the help. Just this weekend the Ladies had a ball roll into a divot, quater or half inch of sand and they were making a big deal out of it. It seems like it would be less resistance but since the? ball is long gone before the club hits the ground, it just didn't seem to make that much of a difference. wrfisherman

Hey B. Kahuna; I have many videos that help you understand why so many players do the squat-head bob thing you seem to fear like so many out there; not your fault, the fear mongers of golf do a great job scaring everyone into being so careful that we forget just how amazing we are and how we were designed to function; please see "ridiculously easy golf part 1 and 2; shawn? clement" and "pure strike part 1 and 2; shawn clement" to start; then go to "create serious speed; shawn "

I am the couple over-couple under type of player at the moment; get me on a course everyday for 3 months and we? are looking at 3 under to even par; having the best time teaching...This is what I was born to do; The tour is a very lonely place and requires a lot of sacrifice and selfishness, with over 190 videos out there, do you think I am the selfish type? :) Shawn
By: clemshaw. on 19 Mar 11, 02:33:51
Great discovery! I get that a lot! This is why doing the perpetual motion drill is so important and to see the arc blur appear in front of you as you do it; many try too hard and overdo the toss with too much manipulation and lift from the arms...the arms get lifted; not your job to do the placing and lifting...I am so very happy for you that you were able to see and feel the difference; now you get to evolve! Congrats!! Thank you so much for sharing this; Shawn?
By: 1tontomato. on 17 Mar 11, 22:13:58
Hey there mister, have some GREAT news. I been struggling with the toss in the back swing and just realized I was tossing it on the wrong axis. I noticed how you toss the club close to your body down the target line axis and so decided to try it. All I can say is I had a SUPER time at the range today. I was compressing the balls so nice with great results that I just stood there and laughed. All this time I kept tossing the club to the outside of my target line and was getting? pulls and slices.
By: MrBKahuna05. on 17 Mar 11, 14:03:50
With your analogy of the child's swing, it appears you're letting your head bob up and down via flex in your knees, I fight topping the ball particularly on long irons and fairway woods. Won't that move make my problem worse? Also, Does it ever make sense to visualize the ball forward of it actual position in the set up to assure a downward strike,? handle in front of the ball etc? This seems to help in indoor practice into a net but may cause alignment errors on the course, ?? Thanks, B. Kahuna
By: flopyhats. on 17 Mar 11, 02:59:36
hey shawn! i was? just curios what kind of score you post when you play and why you dont play on tour?
By: clemshaw. on 16 Mar 11, 19:16:25
Yes, I know it sounds confusing? and this is just an expression and a feeling; the best way to see impact is on my "solid contact; shawn clement" video where I show the analogy of hammering into a door frame and I use a nice close up with the club face;
By: clemshaw. on 16 Mar 11, 19:12:21
Hi George! The sad part is that they get this weather every single day; they told me that they got 4 partial days of rain all winter...for the release, please see my "ridiculously easy golf; shawn clement" part 1 and 2 videos as well as my "fishing and golf; shawn clement" and "hammer through; shawn clement"; I would highly recommend you get my dvd series as it will help you? build this into your swing in priority sequence; Shawn
By: clemshaw. on 16 Mar 11, 19:09:07
Hey Tony!! It is fine to feel like you are using the right hand but it is a pulling action; like you are pulling a bull whip past the ball towards the target; you? do not want to feel like you are shoving with that hand; the term "pushing the kid" is to time the assistance of the momentum with a pulling action with both hands and arms in a non strenuous way; make sense? Shawn
By: wrfisherman. on 16 Mar 11, 02:33:33
Shawn, Off the present subject, but something I've wondering about. Hitting the ball to compress it into the ground to have better contact, but all the slow motion pixs on the golf channel show the ball never compresses against the ground, It's off the face and in the air instantly. I hear this from coaches and pros but it just doesn't seem right. just an observation. Thanks for all the help of all these years, I'm getting others to tune in since my game has improved because of you? teachings.

By: AKADRIVEN. on 15 Mar 11, 20:07:35
Hey Shawn, You and your? Dad look like your having a great time. I love the concept of the knees and the poles of the swing. But how do you push the kid on the swing? Do you use both hands to push the kid on the downswing or mostly the right hand. I like mostly the right hand, it gives me that feeling of effortless power, but somtimes it doesn't work. What do you think? Maybe with more right hand you need to aim more right? your freind from Pinehurst, Tony
