This song, from the first time I heard it, became very special to me - the last few lines of the song mean the most.. As a little leaguer, I couldn't hit to? save my life, not that much better as a fielder, either. When I became a teenager - I discovered pitching. Now at 36 years old - I'm getting ready to start my 27th season in baseball.... for anyone whose faced me over the years - "the ball goes up and the ball goes down" has a totally different meaning to it. :)
