Overrated? They aren't athletes or shares in a company, they can't really be overrated.? I can't understand why you argue against music being subjective.... since IT IS! I agree that soundgarden sounds similar to lots of other grunge/post grunge bands that tried to sound a bit like nirvana. I don't get what you mean with pretentiousness regarding rage?

Rage and soundgarden have both won grammys and sold millions of albums and are both considered revolutionizing by a bunch of people and magazines. I didn't, I said they weren't like the other sellout bands he mentioned - because they didn't sell out and try to appeal to as wide an audience as possible. Oh, and music is 100% subjective. If I wanna compare them to the national (even though? I didn't) you can't say I'm in the wrong - its based on opinion, not fact.

It takes me at least 5 listens before I like a National album. Then it becomes something amazing and transcendent. If you don't like it, stick? at it, it's very rewarding in the end. There are so many layers and hooks that I just don't hear first time.

It takes a while to like THe National, other people (including myself) Like it immediately, and other ones never like it. It's a matter of taste. What sounds like ''crappy poo poo'' to you, might sound amazing for other persons :) P.S. You can't make a general opinion of a band from one? single song, I'd recommend you to try their earlier stuff. Sorry about my english and have a nice day !
