He's a great studio singer and songwriter. All I say is that his live preformences are terrible. Third - I never heard neither of the 3 singers you metioned so I'm not gonna compare. Ok. I'll explain. They are nowhere near my favorite band. I've only listened to them for 5 years, I suppose. With the load of terrible pop and radio-rap music taking over, these guys are old school and unique. Almost 18 years they've been together. Only 2 former members. They record albums in basements, and those albums sell millions. There aren't many bands that do that. I'm a fan of many styles. There's a difference between "not doing it perfect" and "ruining the original song". A band shouldn't sound the same for 20 years but they have to give a good preformence as a value to the ticket's price. No singer can sounds exactly like they sounded 20 years ago,? as no one expects them to do so. But, they must have SOME singing ability. Dave has none. It's like you've never heard Dave Grohl sing? before. There is absolutely no way anyone could say the Foo Fighters suck. These guys are ridiculous musicians. One of the best rock bands of the time. There is no such thing as bands like The Who, The Rolling Stones, or Led Zeppelin anymore because there is so much crap out there. Regarding tuning whilst singing. Look what Dave does at 0:33. He reaches over to hit a foot pedal to cut? the signal of the guitar, so when he's tuning, you? can't hear what he's doing. When done tuning at 0:41, he hits the same pedal again come back in. Standard stuff kids :D

That is funny because I am doing my college homework now but keep stopping to answer you. I don't think? anyone thinks Dave is a great singer. But the Foo Fighters are still a great band and I particularly like their last album. They don't have a Rob Halford singing or an Eddie Van Halen playing guitar, but that's fine. For me, they are a band that rocks and there are not a lot of new rock bands that I can say I like.

Just listen to him, growl's "vocals" are out of tune throughout the whole song and at times even atrociously? out of key. Any person with any? level of musical ear training can confirm this. @2ndote We are all entitled to our opinions. I personally disagree with you. The Foo fighters, while a great band, do not have the same prowess or ability as the Beatles. The Beatles could sing like no other. The harmonies they could produce were nothing short of legendary. Another thing is that the Foo Fighters are not as universally loved as the Beatles.
