Ive glass? bedded the receiver, removed the upper hand guard, floated the barrel, and removed both front and rear iron sights. Additionally, Ive researched tons of? various loads for this, and found that the 200 grain match (reloads in .308 diameter bullets) with 50.4 grains of IMR 4350 seem to be the best combination for my 91/30's1,000 yards 1942 91/30 Russian Mosin-Nagant (P/U) sniper rifle

LOL @ all the people who claim it's impossible because they can't do it or have never seen it done. I've been fortunate enough to grow up within driving distance of Ft. Benning and have many friends who? compete in 1000yd matches on base. I myself have a tough time seeing a 12" target at 500yds with a 20x scope, but that's a limitation of my eyes and skill, not an indication that someone else can't do better. Haters gonna hate...

Miller, The shooter is using handloaded ammo and he does a lot of research in testing to find best load, I surplus ammo is not going to get the? job done, if you try to hit a man at 1000 and you miss most likely you won't have 5 extra shots, so fire shot hit is important for combat I'm talking.

Are you talking about surplus ammo in? your Mosin at 1000 or handloads? Surplus ammo in my friends two Mosin rifles is around 4-5" at 100 yards and that is on sandbags with amazing shooters. With handloads we can do much better.

If a guy is standing? near a tree line 1000 yards or even 300 away you can't see him with iron sights. In my state it's all trees and no sand, I'm sure in Afgan it's easy to see a guy standing out in the open of a desert. For me it's really hard to see a 12" plate with iron sights when the background is not sandy or white. You can't see the misses at long range when shooting in a wheat field.

One more thing, you "allege" that it is impossible or at least difficult to even see the target at that distance with a 3.5 powder scope. Look at my homepage on YouTube and note the background photo. Does that look all that difficult to see? That is a photo through the scope at the same target posted at? 900 yards. 100 more yards out would make little difference.

3 of 3 You like to? post on my sites that I'm posting fake distances and videos, how about you put your money where your mouth is and why don't you bring some cash with you, I'll have my teenage son do it. (I can't since I've broken my neck a second time in 6 years). I've been shooting these rifles at these distances for over 30 years and I associate with a lot of people involved in this sport, I'd look pretty stupid faking videos. try it out it's very very possible and not so difficult @ all i'm not sure how much you shoot.? or what your skill level is as a rifleman .. so i wont speculate etc.. i will just speak on what i know as a Marine rifleman and school trained range coach at quantico virginia... i know that this is not such a difficult shot to make with an optic. especially when Marines routinely shoot 500 yards with iron sights no ptoblem at all

go test it under the same exact conditions and try it b4 you call someone a bullshitter.. i know the mosin can make 1,000 yard hits i own one my self. it's the best 99$ i ever spent on a weapon. and i used to make 500 yard hit's? iron sights consistently with an M-16 A2 with iron sights. it's easy if your trained as a rifleman. also that scope this man is using looks like enough power to see the target @ 1,000yds and he's also got a spotter. so why are u hating on this vid? i dont get it

I haven't owned a 30-06 in quite some time but the ballistics of a? 30-06 at 400 yards are almost identical to a 5.56 of which I own several. I routinely make 400-450 yard shots on iron sights at man sized targets. My average hits in near center mass are about 65%. It really isn't that difficult once you get used to accommodating for the bullet drop which is not a few feet but a mere 21-22 inches. Here is a good ballistics chart so you can check your facts.

You must not know the ballistics of the 30-06 round, it is not a flat shooting bullet at all. It loses a lot of velocity after only 100 yards, and out to 400 yards that bullet is going to drop by a matter of a few feet. You make? a video of you shooting something (iron sights!) at 400 yards with a 30-06, and I will be impressed
