depends what you want in the tank clearly freshwater fish dont need anything like this but this pump is designed for salt water tanks more specifically reefs aquarium practically SPS tanks. sps corals normal come for shallow? water and so prefer high light intensities and high water movement!

Yeah the comment was a year ago however vortech pumps have been out way longer than that. They have been around for over half decade. I don't work for vortech however I do have the MP60 and stand behind it all the way. In reefing most people rely on reviews to buy there products. I started with korilia's, then sea swirls, then closed loop, and? now the MP60. I'm just saying don't knock it till you try it. There great pumps.

your not suppose to use it with 6 inch waves bud. Thats just ot show people how powerful they are. You should research it? a bit. This type of wavemaker is almost a must in reef aquariums. It's very effective. I wish it wasn't so expensive though.

I have since changed the settings from long pulse mode, to short pulse mode, and now use nutrient export mode. I've been using this mode now for about a week and love it. I do not use the RKE (which is what I have now) with these pumps. The MP40 comes with its own driver/controller which is awesome in itself. 2 of these pumps will work for your tank but you may need to add an mp10 in the center if this is a 6 foot long tank for? best and overall control of the tanks water movement. Enjoy ;)

NYS, it's been 2 years since this video. Did you have to replace any parts for your MP40s or did you have any problems with them breaking down? I was thinking about ordering 2 but the? guy at my LFS says these pumps require you to replace parts on them over time in order for them to work long term.

They are good pumps if you get the controllable ones with the Koralia wavemaker, not the regular? pumps with the wave maker. Has to be the controllable pumps. I had those in my reef before these vortechs and they worked great.

I never actually fed it Sea Weed, but I did feed him a variety of foods on different days such as Mysis Shrimp, Flakes, Pellets and on some occasions, Cyclopeeze.? He will love these foods. He will also pick on the algae on the rocks all day. Good luck.

hi steelo, i was watching this nice video and as i told you i am quite scared about noise of the tank. i was thinking to adopt another solution with 2? pumps completed immerse in water. and i discover an italian solution: SICCE wave surfer do you have anything to say? are they good? my tank is 100x60x60 and i heard that for coral i should keep water movement from 30 to 40 times my total L so about 10000 to 12000 l per hour is that correct?

The main differences as I see them is that with Tunze you can change angles of flow. With ET you have a convenient battery back up in case of power outage and no power in water. I really don't like the earmuff look of the ET. If I had a tank I think I'd opt for the Tunze. In fact I had 2 Tunzes on my 225. Although the Koralias are? very tempting these days. I might have tried those.

I would recommend 2 MP40s instead. This tank is only a third of the size of? a 90g tank and much much smaller in terms of dimensions.The 90 is longer, wider and taller, so 2 M40's will give you the full control you need in order to prevent dead spots in the tank. Good luck.

Actually, GM's use of "Vortec" means a whole lot of something. When they debuted in '96 on the Gen I smallblock, and Mark VI bigblocks, they incorporated changes throughout the engine. Mainly cylinder heads and intake improvements. That is the reason they made more power. The term was carried over? to the Gen III and IV smallblocks, since they incorporated an all new design.

Its a torque converter for automatic transmissions. It? doesn't add any power, but since its got a higher stall speed than stock it gets you into the power earlier and you get more torque off the line. On the S197s this mod is good for a few tenths in the 1/4 for most people.

check calcium, alk, mag levels, check PO4 and NO3. You are probably grossly overfeeding. Your "96watt" light is probably some piece of crap compact fluorescent, real lights include? individually reflected T5HOs, MHs, and to an extent LEDs on shallower tanks. Stop using tap water as well, its very high in NO3, PO4, and silicates. I run live rock, sand, refugium, lots of flow, and a protein skimmer for filtration. Have fun.
