That's because this hulk is actually the right size. The Hulk from the first Hulk movie just keeps growing. The Hulk from the second movie is only half a foot taller. Plus this Hulk hunches his back making him seem shorter. But size don't mater this Hulk is Stronger than the last two Hulk and He's also more durable. The first Hulk skin was broken by tank fire. The second Hulk was being Hurt by assault rifle bullets. This Hulk took Jet fire and high level energy blast with out flinching.?

It would be great if you could include a little tag line at the bottom of each? shot with a rough estimate of how many artists worked on that specific shot and also a rough estimate of the time from start to completion. Would be interesting to get a good perspective of the amount of work that goes into it since these quick breakdowns don't always convey the sheer amount of time and effort that goes into these shots.

I live in the Nederlands so I get to see IBC every year, but haven't gotten to NAB as yet. This is the perfect platfor for it. By the way... I'm from Malaysia. Visual Effects in Malaysia is new in film industry. So, my questions is... Can ILM comes to Malaysia and teach students to make top world? class visual effects? Many of Malaysian students only use 3ds program such as 3ds max, Maya & Lightwave and compositing software such as After Effects & Nuke. So, what else program that you used in ILM? didn't you know them special effects are like 65% easy and 35% hard all you need is time to figure it out with the bed sheet you will have someone standing cover up in the bed sheet then reshoot it 2 more times without the person standing so the bed sheet will drop down but with? the hair effect i'm not telling you how to do that special effect :P and with the little room where toby stays in it's aint a effect all u have to do for that is not to open the door for so long how u didn't know that

Actually there is a pattern here with Films nominated for both Best picture and best visual effects. I mean, it's happened with Ben Hur, The Guns of Navarone, Star Wars, Raiders of the Lost Ark, ET, Forrest Gump, Babe, Titanic, Gladiator, The Lord of the Rings Trilogy, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Inception, and Hugo. All of them actually were viable to win the VFX Oscar, mainly? due to them also being nominated for Best picture, and in many cases were front runners in such.

Yet the Academy will usually give the award to flashier films like Avatar, Spider-Man 2, Pirates of the Caribbean 2, The Golden Compass, King Kong and many more films. None of us are saying that Hugo's effects are bad, but subtle does not always mean best. Hugo's effects really helped the story, but the most impressive bits in my opinion was the practical work like the sets and costume design. The subtle effects did? not wow me like they did in a film like Benjamin Button or Forrest Gump.

The analogy does not really work, but I agree the effects in Apes were superior. In no way do I think Hugo's effects were bad, especially with how effectively subtle they were. However, subtle does not always mean impressive. Apes' effects, however, managed to balance the showy effects with how impressive? the subtle details supporting the showy effects are. When you think of how much work goes into facial motion capture like that, it is just astonishing.

I may not agree with Transformers, but I agree the effects were not Hugo's strong points. Art Direction? Totally deserved! Sound mixing/editing? I can handle that. Cinematography? Not my first or second choice, but? not a bad choice. However, the visual effects in Harry Potter and Rise of the Planet of the Apes were far superior. Just the sheer amount of sophistication and detail needed in those films makes your jaw drop. The most I thought of Hugo's effects was, "They're pretty good."

And yes, I do think? Harry Potter and Apes had better effects. Visual effects are always super hard, but the level of work, attention to detail and intricacy Harry Potter and Apes required I think outweigh Hugo's. Motion capture is very tricky to look even mildly convincing so the fact that they came so close in Apes was just astonishing (it was definitely not real, but still amazingly expressive). And Harry Potter had SO MANY effects that the fact I never saw any weak areas is fantastic!

I did see Hugo and it was in fact one of my favorite films of last year. I thought it was a superior? film overall to Harry Potter or Rise of the Planet of the Apes. However, out of everything that was great in this movie, the visuals were not what stood out. I was personally more impressed with how jaw dropping the art direction, set design, cinematography, writing, directing and acting were. The visual effects, though technically proficient, never upstaged the practical work in my opinion.

It still has a very Noire feel to it, visuals doesn't? create the Noire feel, at least not the entire Noire feel. They do have a few levels in this game still located in NYC to give us that great nostalgic feeling. I prefer it this way, I hate how A LOT of game developers just keep remaking the same games but changing the story and putting the number 3 instead of the number 2 on the box.
