I think you misunderstood, I think not having a ref is great, spirit of the game is what make ultimate the great sport it is, I know world disc gamers that have? fessed up to game winning catches that didn't quite make it-spirit of the game

in my opinion ultimate players play at a higher level because we dont take advantage? of the mistakes of refs. plus we do have official rules...that point cannot be debated whatsoever. and at higher levels such as worlds or club opens there are observers that point out of bounds or in bounds.

people who argue against ultimate being a sport usually argue one of two things. 1) it takes no physical athleticism, or 2) there are no refs. obviously #1 is false and only ppl who have no idea what ultimate is say things like that. #2 does have its merits but i will point out that refs allow players to cheat with whatever they can get away with. in baseball, catchers frame the pitch and outfields call picks catches. in soccer and basketball, people fake injuries all the time to frame? a foul.

I saw Fleming's catch live... this camera angle doesn't give him credit. It looked totally impossibly to catch. They were practically both halfway, and he ran it halfway down the field, a disc that looked like it was getting away from him the whole time. It? was INSANE.

It's not, but that doesn't mean that it doesn't happen. And it also doesn't mean that players? are/should be intolerant of contact. It's an intense sport, contact happens. But if it affects the outcome of a play (a pick, unnecessary contact on the throw, someone getting held why trying to catch the disc, etc.) then it should be and will be called. There will be tons of bumps and little scrapes between players that don't get called because there's no point in calling them.

i can honestly say i like? this commentary exponentially more than what we're stuck with at college nationals and the like. it's pretty goofy (just like frisbee should be), gives us player names, and actually provides some analysis. kudos

What was the foul on the 6:20 play? Seemed like a bs? call to make up for the missed defense against a great play right after Canada's embarrassing "where did the disc go?" play before that. I don't see how the receiver could have fouled his defense (as the defense ran into him from behind) and no travel on the thrower.

Love the game and how much the sport is progressing but for goodness sakes the commentators sound like they are doing a radio commentary, too much "pass from (full name) to (full name) which is okay for the beginning of the game, but once the score is 2-1 or? the game is going just last names please. They should take notes from soccer commentators and talk more about flows, force and what not. Its just awkward in the beginning sounds like a radio commentary to me.
