I love gaming! I've been gaming for about 15-20 hours a week for the last 20 years, I'm 36. I have a wife who loves to game as well (that's the important part!), a house and two kids. We game in the evenings during the week but keep the weekends free for time together as a family. I wouldn't have any of that if I'd spent 15-20 hours a week in a casino? for 20 years, I'd be living on the street.

I wouldn't say they aren't scientific. Generally they are quite scientific. There is no reason to not have random variables, so long as you keep them truly random across all study groups. That does however? require replication and cautious conclusions. What happens is people draw wrong, exaggerated, or just poor conclusions from actual scientific research. Maybe they don't understand, maybe they are motivated for profit; maybe its media who oversimplifies or leans to sensationalism.

"Scientists" is something I wouldn't even call them . A real scientist would make the study with a hard statistical methodology (not two parts questionnaires "A) Are you a gamer. B) Do you gamble") and before running to the media to announce something that their study can't prove, they would publish it on any reputable scientific magazine, for their peers to verify. ONLY if the study/theory? passes the scrutiny of them, then he can announce it as a discovery.

These "scientific" studies are normally carried so badly that the results can say whatever the researcher wants: They select a group of ppl based on a trait and see if they have another trait of interest to correlate with, then make the "announcement". This is statistical bullshit, if you don't control other variables of the study (on this case, I can think of? parent behaviour, brain activity of the lineage, socio-economical status, etc) you can't say there is a relation.

I think that they are going to be able to polish off the things that people hate about Diablo 3, so that everyone flocks to TL2, which is exactly what I am doing. I have SO? MUCH respect for the old D1 and D2 devs. No respect for the D3 devs. D3 completely tanked, with the community it is a flop. Just read the official forums. I think that games these days are insanely overpriced. Paying $70 for a game just seems a bit much for most games. Unless the title is amazing, I find it to be a rip off. I'm very selective when it comes to the new games I buy, but look at games like "Halo: Combat Anniversary" or "The Cursed Crusade". They are for consoles and brand new are only $40...WITH DLC. I? think the DLC is fine, and if you don't wanna pay full price...you still get the full game but no extras, at least you save a lot.

You make a good point, but those who are too cheap? Not everyone can afford 60-70 dollars for the brand new game, and I would be okay if there was some method to pay the developers directly for the DLC, just so that everyone could have this DLC. Doesn't seem like too much to ask for. And as for pirates, efforts to stop piracy have always been at the expense of loyal customers. I do agree that piracy is a problem, but? we need better ways to deal.

The DLC is a free bonus. They are giving you added content that other people have to pay for. "It's my property" is fine, but it? is a free bonus. They never said you can't resell, because you paid for it. But added bonus wasn't paid for. The people who think it's crap cause they want more for less are the same ones pirating software. I believe that personal game sale over websites like ebay or craigslist are amazing, but GameStop is, as you said, making a KILLING off used game sales. With personal sale, the seller gets more money than he/she would have gotten from GameStop, and the buyer pays LESS than what they would have paid for the used game at GameStop. Everybody wins. developers have already raised the price of a new game from 50$ to 60$. This is just a case of the gaming industry trying to milk more money from the market. I am in college and I? do not have a steady job so I only buy used. The one time only DLC will cause me to possibly not even want to buy the game in the first place.

Having to install Origin? for ME3 is like having gay-sex for a night with a supermodel. Origin is the reason I stopped playing BF3, though a great game, the horrible online game-browser and Origin is just enough to make you stop wanting to get back. yep we see it time and time again. the companies NEVER learn. they go for the easy quick fix thinking thats the solution for their problems. GET THE PIRATES,? THAT WILL INCREASE OUR WEALTH EVEN MORE! The reasons you've just stated happen to be exactly what I tried to imply as going on "behind the scenes" (obviously unsuccesfully). But still,? Mass Effect is a great series in a generation filled with no-content gaming crap, and the whole issue with being Origin exclusive is just a minor setback (for me at least), and it won't keep me from playing the third game.

there is nothing going on "behind the scenes". EA owns bioware, simple as that. if the devs choose to leave, they have to leave bioware and all of their intellectual properties behind and start a new? company. they obviously dont want to do that because EA would just run all of their hard work into the ground. so yea it's understandable that they stay with EA.

I'm not "rationalizing", I'm stating that there may be reasons behind BioWare remaining with? EA that we may never know about, and true, it might be for money that they joined in the first place but the reason why they keep bashing their heads against a wall along with EA may be more complicated then simply them "not actually caring about their games".

I'm a PC gamer and like would say:? "I don't give a vorcha's ass" about the Origin requirement. It's a one time only single player activation and it's a minor setback to be online on Origin to play multiplayer(which I think I won't be playing much anyways). That being said, I don't buy games on Steam, most my games are physical copies and the only reason I've pre-orderd ME 3 on digital store on my country was the lack of a physical pre-order in any retailer here.

There is a lot happening "off screen", sometimes having sheer will alone isn't enough to get the situation resolved (contrary to? popular belief). i.e They may wish to part with EA but haven't done so because of reasons the public isn't aware of and likely will never know about.

Continuing: I know it's been said that Origin is required for single player gameplay but come on, it's a one time(I say again, a ONE TIME) online activation then puff, forget Origin even exists. Don't forget that Mass Effect is a famous franchise because of single player gameplay(a dying breed these days),and even if? there is multiplayer included in this one it will still be praised for the single player elements. Seriously, I don't understand why people will skip the game just because Steam won't sell? it. I mean, there is still that retail shop who will sell you the physical copy of the game you know? Amazon is offering the game as digital download, here on Brazil our own digital shop is also offering the game as digital download. My point is: there are a lot of ways of buying the game without Origin so unless I'm skipping something it seems immature(if not stupid) to skip the game because of that.

I don't know about the console situation here in the Philippines. But I have a hunch? that it is not as strong or saleable as it is used to be. I mean, most gamers I've seen today are playing free-to-play MMORPGs, MMOFPS & MOBAs in Internet Cafes. It's the bad economy & the few, small paying jobs that's why. Even a squatter can pay & play an MMO in an Internet Cafe. Fortunately, many Cafes' rates today are cheaper unlike a decade ago.

I sure hope these new consoles each have a unique feeling or to at least have a dramatic difference in multiplayer gameplay --? More Players 32-64, and 10x better graphics. In the mean while, my PC is up to date and will do, until its next update is needed(: GTX 560, i5-2500k, 3.30GHz, 8GB RAM -- Company CyberPowerPC. Developers want people to buy their games? they should learn from blizzard. First, realease the game when it is finished. Second, dont give dlc that's bullshit and that should be included with the game (or at least make it free). I do download lots of games that i want to play? but would not pay to play.
