the 1998-2001 swing destoryed tiger's knee, the snapping at impact put too much stree into it. it needed a bit of flex and then i would agree that that was an amazing swing, it is basically that? now under foley. for proof knees should not be hyper-extened go to weight rooms and look at leg press machine motion. you have to keep flex or you destory your knee. it allows for max strength from muscles. backing myself up to show i know a thing or two

Don't question my knowledge on a swing. I've worked with Butch and his colleagues down at his institute for 4 years. Just so you know under Butch, Tiger undisputedly had the best swing in golf. So yes, after years of analyzing different swings, I think I know what to look for. Yes Nick price has a fluent swing. But how come Nick doesn't have so much media about it?? And still, if you're going to talk down Tiger, at least show a video of your swing in comparison. Good day.

Put a line above any great players head at the start of the swing then another at impact and you'll find the 90% of those players? lower during the down swing. They may not be consciously doing so, but they do lower. It's simple physics and a great power move. Its all about matching the level of the shaft at impact to the level at address. You could lower your head a foot, but if you match the shaft level to that at address you will hit solid shots.

i disagree? with this and i'm pretty sure Haney would as well. imo opinion the best Tiger swung it under Haney was basically at anytime between the 06 British and the 08 US Open. After he came back from his knee injury, his arms started going further out away from his body going back and as a result kept getting further stuck behind him coming down. Tiger said that a healthy knee beginning in 2009 allowed him to make the swing he and Haney had always wanted to make, a sentiment that

great video quality, but I am really hating what Foley is doing to Tiger's swing. I feel he's not moving off the ball correctly so he cannot make a comfortable attack at the ball from the downswing (he cannot attack it from behind if you know what I mean). He then struggles to give the shot all his potential hit and I feel he's losing a? lot of distance. This is my opinion, I strongly think Hank had him swinging his best in the Summer 2009, it was magic.

Watch the left foot at impact for several of them in the video. Note how they don't just shift weight on the downswing to the front foot... it's to the front heel. That tells you they've cleared the left hip out of the way properly, which prevents getting "stuck" and makes for more solid contact down the target line. A lot of "over the top" problems we amateurs have is a result of shifting weight to the front of the lead foot coming down, instead of to the back of? the foot.

He holds that face square to the target line longer than any player I've seen. No release of the club through impact! You could say he chicken-wings? but that would be unfair as he obviously makes it work. He's really right hand dominant and pushes that club through impact-very strong forearm muscles to be able to control and produce the distance he does.

Its not a flip, but this 'L' to 'L' style is considered a little old fashioned these days and not taught by modern coaches because the risk is to flip the club if you don't happen to have silky smooth rythm and impaccable timing (not to mention an amazing talent) like Luke Donald. Most modern players retain a very straight left wrist through impact? (Westwood, Woods, McIlroy), but anyone calling this a flip doesn't know what they're talking about.

What is meant by efficient is virtually no effort required but produces lots of speed. A flip is completely different? to a (hand) release of the club. One is flipping under with the wrists breaking down, one is rolling over the hands right to left (the hands just cock and uncock). Look at all the pros' impact positions, almost all of them are the same. Releasing your hands squares the club up. Which is the only way to hit straight shots. I would not call it a sway but he definitely has a big of lateral movement in his backswing. Luke has more of a "old school" swing transfering the weight towards the back foot with a bit of lateral movement and he has a lot of forearm rotation through the ball more of a old school release, a? lot of rotation on the clubhead through the ball, has to rely on timing sometimes but it has worked this year for him.

I tried this same swing and set up. Center front by 2 inches and wrist just a bit in front of the ball. I ended up hitting it really well. Had a few over 300 yds. I notice that the more I move the ball forward the more it drew, hooked and then a duck hooked. I'm thinking the club face is too closed in this set up if you move it to the club to far forward. I really wanted to get it right inside my left heel but it kept on hooking. Moving it center front? worked for me.

lol right? I like how people tell us how far WE hit our ball. Like trust me bro i'm 6'2 with a better than scratch handicap and hit the ball 320 Average driving distance. Not uncommon to see a 370 yard drive with a little wind helping. Just cause you can't doesn't mean everyone can't.? But yeah I agree unless you know what your doing i.e. know that you have control of the clubface no matter what your doing then don't swing the club like Lovemark. Or a few other pros (Gainey)? lol

It can also cause a weak, wipey cut with a short iron. Not saying fades are inherently weak(I hit one and average just a smidge over 300), but the weak grip can cause some problems in short irons. For Jamie? Meh.? Don't know. Don't watch him that much.

I disagree... at least when using a short iron like this. That chicken wing move and weak grip can help create a more accurate/straighter shot... at least with? the skill of a pro golfer. Now if it was a long iron then I would agree you need more of a release and stronger grip at the top.

This guy's body action is extremely nice with a huge turn. Nice leg action, all exhibiting tremendous athleticism. The grip seems a little weak and too flat at the top requiring his "turn-it-down and hold it past impact" motion. This move? is too restrictive and can lead to deceleration of the body if you can't chicken-wing fast enough or turn it over quickly. I'd like to see his grip a touch stronger, a little cup at the top and a free release a little earlier. Other than that, great swing.

Doesn't turn?? His back is pointed at the target, at the top of his backswing, indicating a full shoulder turn. Pretty sure that's a short iron like an 8 or 9 too. No need to get to parallel with a short iron. Really solid swing in all aspects. The question is can he putt?
