Yes i? get it but the point of the video is also anti-advertising, yet they are using ads to get their point across. There are subliminal techniques where they use this exact style of a flicker of an image to subconsciously implant an idea in your head. This is not a new technique, for all I know this is real advertising and they're using reverse psychology on us.

Well, Murdock(Dwight Schultz) has been doing alot of voice-overs in some popular video games these days, last I saw him he was on all those newer StarTrek episodes, such as Vger. Face man has been real public about his? campaign against that new BattleStarGalactica, adamantly protesting it's desecration of the original,but other than that I've only seen him make a cameo in the new Ateam movie, as well as Murdok did. You got it man, Mr. T is always taking care? of business. I read his past on wikipedia recently, it's pretty crazy! Guy's not an actor, he's the real dam thing, lol. U.S. army brigades that patrols Iraq from hostile invaders actually named one of their operations after Mr.T (really man; Operation Mr.T), since he's a former army soldier. I thought that was cool. When naming the op they said "We tried to think of the baddest dudes out there"

No, it wasn't their last gig. In 2011, they did a couple of gigs in Brazil. There are a few videos of these shows on YouTube as a 3-part interview with MTV Brazil. During this interview there was even talk of a new album. Richard Lloyd has left the? band though. Jimmy Rip has taken his place.

No need to underplay the Strokes' proclivity for great, affecting music craftmanship because you need to praise a cornerstone. Yes this is great stuff and influenced a lot of good concurrent bands. But so did a lot of other bands (the smiths, blondie, velvet underground, etc.); such influences shaped the direction and means by which a current band like the strokes creates music. Then one day, for some strange reason, it was a completely new record to my ears, and I listened to it? non-stop for weeks. Now I have all their albums and bootlegs as well as all of Tom Verlaine's stuff. Ha ha. aHHHH. The days of hittin any one of 40-50 clubs in NYC, joint lit, nose stuffed with Go Go candy, heading to check out a band. Saw Television once at the Ritz and then another time at El Mundo/the Love Club on E 2nd. MGMT90 said it-the impetus for the Strokes, but lets' get real. Television was a star studded effort (Eno too! ); they were a more important band than the Strokes, who seem thinly positioned in the minds of older? fans, who love and remember the 70's NYC Underground Music scene.

Richard Hell was simply the glittering star of the band, a personality too much above the others, which Verlaine should have accepted just as Mick Jones in the Clash and Steve Jones in the Pistols - aka the main contributors to the bands' sound despite not being the main attractions. Television would have then continued to be the great? "raw" band you can hear in this demo, instead of the weak attempt to repeat it which goes under the name of Marquee Moon :)

I saw Richard Hell live a few times & he's a perfectly solid bass-player. Of course Fred Smith's more technically proficient, but it's no mystery that Hell's exit from Television wasn't just about his bass-playing: there was a clash of egos with Verlaine over different things. Haven't? heard this in a long time but when I did I remember thinking that his bass-playing was fine. If it had really been that bad Brian Eno & Island Records wouldn't have really considered signing them

Hell left Television (first 'modern' Punk Rock band, haircuts, ripped clothes & all) because of ego clashes with Verlaine for the band's leadership

I absolutely know that there was a dramatized British mini-series about the early days of TV in England, it was shown on PBS in 1985 or 86 and I distinctly remember this song being sung in it, but I cannot find any reference to it online. That's the lamest litany of historial non-facts I've? ever read. 1) There is no evidence that Boris Rosing ever realized anything beyond the idea of using CRTs for television 2) Zworykin's 1923 (granted in 1938) patent is highly suspect, and was ruled "inoperative" in the litigation with Farnsworth in 1934/35); 3) Farnsworth had nothing to do with the Iconoscope, his 1927 invention was the Image Dissector. Dear friends, the first (electronic) television broadcast was realized in Russia 1907 by Boris Lvovich Rosing. He invented the line-by-line broadcast. His student Vladimir Kosma Zvorykin invented cathode-ray tube (kinescope) and patented in 1923 the iconoscope - both? are the basic devices of the modern television. Iconoscope was finally realized by Philo Farnsworth 1927 and again, similarly by Zvorkin in 1933. In the USA Zvorkin co-invented the color television and the electronic microscope.

I always read these things with a degree of intrepidation because US ians can never accept they weren't first at something. This is a history of TV IN THE US? period. The BBC service started in 1936 and that same 405 system continued to give good service until 1985. Farnsworth contributed nothing to Television anywhere else other than in the US indeed his name isnt even spoken of or known of outside the US. All his inventions had been invented long before 1929!
