I guess this is good for people who have never even heard of surfing before, but this almost way too simplistic. There also some false facts, like requiring a wetsuit or leash. The waves you were surfing on? were too easy, even for a beginner; they were like those annoying little ankle-biter waves you see on bad days. Also, it seemed like you really had no grasp on real surfing or the logistics of it; almost like you were reading this out of a textbook. That's my two cents, anyway.

Excuse me, but they replicated the conditions *exactly* and they couldn't get it to work. The wave created by the conditions depicted in the video was just a? small ripple on the surface, nowhere near the wave depicted in the video and, more importantly, not surfable. They even took it a step further to see if dynamite surfing was possible at all by using an impractical amount of explosives and they still couldn't get a surfable wave to form. They were nothing but thorough.

buddy, you don't have to be a genius to know that there is only one key factor in this "myth" which determines if its fake or not, and that's the power of the explosion. In real life three sticks of dynamite barley made a ripple on the surface, so it doesn't matter what the conditions of? the experiment were. you are never going to get any kind of significant wave from such a small blast. so next time, why don't you use a little bit of common sense before you start stating such bull shit

Hello, people! Mythbusters is entertainment, not science. Although they don´t succeed in their experiments, does not mean it is impossible. I don´t? know whether the dynamite surfing is real or not, but the Mythbusters should at least use the same conditions as the guys in the video. THIS IS NOT FAKE, MYTHBUSTERS IS FAIL. Mythbouthers used a river where the depth is constant. A wave increases its amplitude as the depth decreases and speeds up due to conservation of mass. Hence there is more extractable energy on the surface and the wave can be utilised by the surfer. Furthermore this unstable amplitude from a transition to a shallower region will cause? the wave to break. This myth has been poorly tested by not varying the depth of the water as? the wave formed.

I thought the dialogue was pretty funny owing to how dead pan and improvised it sounded a lot of the time the plot/story was pretty unoriginal? but still good code seemed a lot like a real pretentious teenager, concerning the characters the setting is a tropical island.... what's wrong with that exactly? if their anthropomorphising I don't see how "Penguins going surfing" is any more limited then people doing surfing? also "Penguins going surfing" is a "premise" for a movie not a "plot"

Go down?..... Go up. I've been surfing for 20 years, I've had about 10 boards since i started and they got bigger every time. Longboards are the way to go brother, and the best part is when the waves are small you can still go out. Someone asked me a similar question a while ago, this is what I told him- Sometimes I would track a cloud or a rock+palm tree. But most of the time there was a pretty solid horizon line created by the incoming waves? that I could latch on? to. Since most of the scenes are long shots I didn't have to do any 3d tracking, just a lot of trial and error 2d tracking of the wave's edge...

What did you track off of? Looks like you've got mostly water and sky, which is quite foggy, and a few glimpses of land. To me it looks like untrackable footage. Cannot track off water because it changes constantly, cannot track off foggy sky. How did you ever set up enough trackers to motion track so beautifully? The author explained earlier in the comments that? the flying ships are people escaping from what as you can see is an impending astroid strike. The structures out in the water are oil platforms. It's much better in the summer. But the water is still cold. It rarely reaches 60 degrees Fahrenheit. The larger waves are less common in the summer. Crystal clear fresh water. Storms do bring in some monster waves in? the summer though.

I think there's a limit to things that need doing and this ain't one of them. It's just a chance to shoot a surfer with icicles on his head for the sake of advertising. Unless someone can come up with a better answer than Kirk in Star Trek: "Why do you? climb a mountain?"..."Because it's there"... I will always think this clip is idiotic.
