Thats not true at all. Im a norwegian my self, and while norwegian vikings mainly went to Ireland and Scotland, Danes to England, swedes went to the east. Creating realms like Kiev and Novogorod. Hey, i'm not trying to be a smartass but i've heard that if the angle from the shaft to the blade is? to close to 90* it will cause a weakness in the blade so that it will easier break off the handle. How i understand it it's best if it's no a angle, but a curve instead. I don't know i what i wrote made any sense to you, but i felt like saying it.

A wonderful video. I never thought I'd try double hand casting because it seemed too difficult, but Mr. Mortensen artfully and clearly illustrates a double hand casting technique so well and in a manner that makes much sense to me that I'm actually going to go out and get a? Scandi outfit to start with. Thanks for posting it, and thanks to Mr. Mortensen for being such a fantastic instructor.

Just purchased the Scandinavian Forest Axe after much consideration, and was pleasantly surprised to see that yours was made by Kjell-Äke Sjölund as well.? Should make an excellent hunting / backpacking axe for years to come. Worth every penny!

In? all fairness, the iltis oxhead axes are good quality and I feel that their method of securing the head with a circular metal pipe-wedge works well. While wetterlings makes a great axe, and Iltis makes a great axe, but my dollars went towards a GB small forest axe. And a Sandvik hatchet. And a Sandvik 26" axe. Hmmmm.....am I buying too much gear?? Nahhhh.

The double wedge technique for fixing a wooden handle into a steel ax? head is strong. The inserted wooden wedge expands the sides of the wooden handle laterally to fit the sides of the eye socket. I happen to be swedish. So I'll go by your advice and only buy stuff from my own country i.e. nothing from the US :c) I also happen to be a smith/welder by profession, and I know how to "read" iron. First time I touched the head of one of GBs? axes, it just shouted "quality!" to me and I bought one on the next pay check. Been with me on every hike since, great stuff.
