You got the first one correct about being fit enough, However to apply for selection for the SAS you must have served at minimum 3 or? 4 years (I think its 4 years) with a regular army unit and have two operational tours completed. Being infantry will boost your chances of passing. Your talking about sniping, before you even get to see a sniper rifle you must pass SAS selection then continuation training and then you maybe have the chance to specialise as a sniper if your lucky

Check the Wikipedia for a man called Charles Alvin Beckwith. Many other special forces are based on the SAS. But you can also look at the military trying to bring an intermediate round like the 6.8mm SPC. The lack of stopping power? of the 5.56, in urban combat, will mean big rounds like the 7.62 will never go away. What's sad is that if the US wasn't so stubborn, they would adopt a 7.62x39mm which is perfect for house to house due to the smaller case, since distance has little to do with CQB. But that's just day dreaming.

Yeah buddy, sure. Taliban /= al Qaeda. You'd think after 10 years of conflict, this fact would be readily apparent. "Taliban" is just the name the US and others use for anyone in Afghanistan that wants the ISAF to go? home. You've also got to realize that probably half of those people captured probably weren't even Taliban, they were probably just people the US-backed warlord didn't particularly like on that given day. Still, I don't see any other way it could have went.

Lots of bullshit posted about whether the SAS would have used these techniques. This is for bodyguards. The SAS would probably have been the ones to use the knife in the first place in an engagement situation as stealth and surprise are key. NO I'm not a soldier but a good friend of mine ex RAF regiment worked with them in Bosnia and said they were brutal bastards. This? is for bouncers and mostly can be learned in martial arts schools at higher levels - i'm qualified to say that at least!
