What I mean by 'being direct' is not to be rude but to lessen miscommunication/misunderstandings. E.g. Someone I care about is avoiding me lately. It's easy to assume that it's something I did, but I don't know. Most people won't? come right out and ask 'hey, is it me?' I would; but I find that in an effort to spare my feelings, others will shy away from saying what they mean- even if that's what I want- thinking that in not facing me, I'd be less hurt, when in actuality, the opposite is true.

Personally I found this really interesting. This is why when I'm in a relationship/friendship with someone I always prefer to come right out and say what I mean. Ugh. i'm trying to say that Christians are arguably the most emphatic of all, the European civilization proves it (even if some self-critically like to nit pick all the bad and exaggerate still it is incomparable to the rest) . but even for us it's hard? to empathize with every bad thing that happens around the world. contribute locally. . If we think of theological, tribal and nation state ´empathic ties´, the empathy that we feel towards them is based? on an idea of ´sameness´- that we share some sort of cultural or ideological history/destiny. I agree in a greater since of unity, but I think the individual is still very important. Take for instance the Haiti example, yes if you look at it on a one-dimensional level, people acting in self interest would not give toward Haitian relief. However, it is very possible for humans to be pleasure-seeking, utilitarian, and directed by self interest but still follow these principles of empathy. Empathy? gives us pleasure when we give. We can be charitable for completely selfish reasons.

I do not condone either act, I find any action that takes a human life to some extent repulsive. And? I should clarify that empathy is by far more akin to understanding, than acceptance. My objection goes against dehumanicing these people, who have very real reasons to act in this way (although misguided). They are not a force truely evil, but think themselves fighting it. Should this be allowed? Is it in any way justified? Of course not. But empathy should be ever present amongst us

What these guys fail? to realize is that the main and driving factor behind suicide extremism is the occupation of muslim lands by an invading force. When I saw him many years later as a young man in his late teens, he seemed to have lost some of his intelligence. On the ADHD discussion: I really agree on the problem resulting from the distance between stimulating non-schoolar activities (video games, internet, etc) and traditional lesson. BUT, even uploading class methods, there's an imperative that cannot be left away: learning things takes lots of work. Hard work. The advanced technologies develop advanced fun stuff that puts some brains to work but mostly, I think, they rest upon the? sensitive stimulation and not intellectual effort. (lack of space)

True, there's misdiagnosis out there too (I meant to add that along with the over-prescribing and black market medication abuse points). However, my husband and brother would have benefited tremendously had they been diagnosed as children and? not just as adults. And to make a blanket statement that ADHD meds turn people into zombies is just irresponsible and wrong. It tough enough choosing to take that road without being pressured with misinformation like this.

He didn't call ADHD a myth. He called ADHD being an epidemic a myth, which I agree on. I do believe in ADHD, and you make a valid point, but? it's also important to accept the fact that ADHD has been used as an excuse. In fact, I was almost diagnosed with ADHD when I was a kid, when the real issue was that I wasn't being challenged enough at school because I was gifted, and that I was just getting bored (Not bragging). We both agree, we're just emphasizing on different parts of the argument. :P

There are so many people out there who don't even believe ADHD is a real thing and Sir Ken? perpetuates that myth. He has obviously never lived in close range to an ADHD sufferer or seen the benefits that treatment can bring.

He doesn't understand that ADHD is a real affliction in most cases and that treatment (including medication) can be a positive life-changer. It should not make "zombies" out? of people if prescribed correctly, quite the opposite. The media is keen to jump on cases where ADHD medication has been misused, either over-prescribed, or sold on the black market to college students to get better results on their papers or tests.

There could be a bit of democratization of exchange and the nation's GDP would not be the holy grail that it is now. People could choose? to exchange in those things that they believed to be valuable and not be forced to use one specific currency.
