The good news is that if I had it it would be free. The bad news is that I don't work from plans. The boats and engines sort of grow on my work bench from ideas in my head and maybe some sketches on the bench top. Theres no way it would work. it requires a flame to heat? the boiler, and if your thinking you could put a waterproof shell over the flame, the flame would get no oxygen and the flame would go out.

I think it's partly because the water in the tubes keeps them from getting too hot; partly becuause the heat from the? candle goes mostly up and away from that part of the engine; and partly because the epoxy around the straw ends helps them keep their form. sciencetoymaker has vids on how? to make them. what heppens is there are tubes under the boat that are attached to a little chaber and u fill the tubes with water and then put a candle under it and the candle causes the water to turn into steam and push air out while the chamber expandes then the chamber comtracts bringing in fresh water and then the process is repeated. the poping sound comes from the expanding and constracting of the chamber.

Now ive been thinking about a engine now its a very easy engine to make but will it work. What I do is get a tea candle and remove the wick and wick holder from it. Then I sit the wick in the fuel holder, then put an oil in the holder and light it up. It's nice because to refuel you? don't have to extinguish the flame. Veggy oil burns nice and clean, used motoroil puts off realistic smoke. Also, you can just scoop sterno out of a can, and burn it without a wick in the fuel holder.

As? I was designing the engine, at one point it was straight straws, no bend. It can work like that, but when you prime it with water the engine completely fills with water. At first that sounds good for a steam engine, but actually it runs better with drops of water that can flash to steam quickly. Once you get one that works, experiment and see what you come up with. Part 11 is Step 8, using a thumbnail to open up the end of the "pocket" a bit, then pinching the end of the long part of a flexible straw and pushing it in. Then the long part of another straw.
