Thank you for this video, lots of fun, I've been reading the comments cause I hade a little problem and after building 3 chambers and making? tests I found out that when you weld the pipes you have to push them all the way down to keep a higher level of water inside. This way duo don't have to worry about the flame. Thank you so much wonderful tuto

In Francia, troviamo in queste provette per i negozi? di bricolage e negozi per modellismo. L'idea è di rendere la barca con quello che si trova vicino a casa. Ad esempio, è anche possibile utilizzare il tubo dei freni auto. Buona costruzione.

what can i use in? the place of the brass pipe?
By: MrPatnico. on 19 May 12, 09:16:27
Theoretically, there is no limit. But do not dream. If you hope to board a boat propelled in this way, we'll have? a lot of energy and you will not go very fast. Engine performance pop-pop is very very low :o(
By: nick199009. on 19 May 12, 08:45:06
how large can you? scale this
By: MrPatnico. on 17 May 12, 21:24:18
That's possible. But there is a physical relation betewen energy of the flame and volume of the boiler, volume of the boiler and lenght of pipes, diameter of the pipes and length of the pipes.? So, more energy and bigest boiler give biggest boat.
By: wdr217. on 17 May 12, 17:35:30
What if? you were to make the boiler longer and put 2 flames under it?
By: MrPatnico. on 16 May 12, 21:19:00
No I don't use a vernish or other paint. The plombier welding melt at around 250/300 °C. That's enough for the boiler as there is water in the pipes. So it's very? important that the engine pulse correctly. If the engine stop to pulse, the flame should be extinguished immediately to prevent the overheating of the boiler. So the engine must be designed to operate stably. This is the best guarantee that the boiler remains at the correct temperature.

I tried to build a boat like this, with 2 engines instead of 1, and i used aluminium cans. I was able to weld the aluminium, but after a few times the welding of the engines burst. Then i weld them again and used a high temperature resistant paint to prevent the welding from bursting or melting, but it happened again. After you built your engine, did you use some kind of varnish to prevent the solder from melting with the burner flame? Thanks!?

You're welcome.I'll certainly have a go as soon? as I can remember who I lent my soldering iron to,and get it back. Its a very interesting project.and my 4 year grandson was thrilled watching it chug around after he'd had a bath and got out, taking care not to let him touch it of course.

Very good and clear information to build a pop pop boat,I think anyone who are reasonably good with their hands could make one of following your instructions. And its good that its all in one video,I noticed one on YT went well into 20+ videos.not easy to follow.I did notice the small one I bought several years ago at the great Dorset Steam Fair has got an open boiler dish with the 2 tubes, where you have soldered a lid on yours,Mine works very good but reckon yours would be more efficient.5? stars
By: MrPatnico. on 15 May 12, 07:41:49
Bonne construction. :o)
By: MrPatnico. on 15 May 12, 07:37:20
You only need iron can for the boiler (soda can or beer can). The rest of the boat can be in aluminium. In the video, the body of the boat is made with a fish can. The roof comes from a bean can. I build? the boiler with a soda can can (iron)
