What a great band this is. Met the lads at Spaceland in Silverlake Los Angeles years ago, and it was an excellent show? - then in Brighton's Komedia last year, where they were, again, excellent. Enjoyed the drum work a lot there, and the whole LP is worthwhile.

I must admit, the scene is an inspiration. I'm only 30 but a guy at work,? Is a northern soul DJ from the isle of wight soul club (I believe it's called) and he got me into this scene....The music is brilliant and while I'm certainly no connoisseur having only? just been introduced to the scene...I am hooked on it. He did warn me though, once you get into northern soul, be prepared to spend your life browsing e-bay etc looking for rare vinyl, LP's and singles etc. :S

Here in the? US this style of music reformulated over time into the "boom-clap" via DJ's and electro. That's how I grew up, c-walking, uprocking, and that kind of thing in LA. I remember a cousin moved from the Dales (my actual surname, seriously!) to Vancouver and came to visit us. He had those exact flare trousers and was feeling the "dance all night vibe" that in hindsight crossed so many subcultures at the time. Now it's entirely a "street" or ethnic thing, but it never really was then.

I was lucky enough to see the same Aurora that Kjetil spoke about in 2003 from Northern UK. I contacted one of my Amature radio friends in Tromso that night and she confirmed that the snow did indeed appear red. It has deffinatley affected me? emotionaly. NASA Space weather website tells you when there will be Aurora! check it out ;)

well, actually Itsuwari no Utahime is not? *just* compilation movie. There are many little things in plot & characters that were changed. Basically Utahime+Sayonara is MF's equivalent of DYRL aka independent film retelling. Utahime was first part and Sayonara no Tsubasa is the second part and direct continuation of Utahime, taking place 3 months after first film. But it's 100% new. All animation, scenes, story etc. is new. It's radically different from series in many ways and a new beast

Saw it 4 times there in total, definetly worth the price. It really needs to be seen on big screen. The film is phenomenal if a fair bit darker than tv series. Those are stereotypes that doesn't exist only in England. Mentioning Yorkshire and London only served to make the sketch more realistic, but? the same effect could have easily been achieved by using fictitious place names.

You definitely don't have to be British to find this funny, although a superficial knowledge of British geography couldn't hurt. It's funny to anyone who recognizes the role reversal: we would expect the hard-working, coal miner father from Yorkshire to resent his foppish son who ran off to London to write? plays, abandoning a noble career in the mines. The fact that the roles are completely reversed is what's hilarious to anyone, and not knowing where certain places are don't diminish that.

Its not Avalanche "Country" maybe, but you were riding Avalanche "Terrain" this is trerrain steeper then 25 Degrees regardless if its Ontario,? or BC it all depends on the slope the snow rests on. So if you dont want to carry a beacon or probe you have 2 choices: 1 - Ignorantly risk your life every time you choose to climb a hill like that, or 2 - stay off the steep slopes and stick to riding your "not Avalanche Country" Terrain

I'm a professional ski patroller trained in avalanche rescue that resides in BC, but grew up in Sudbury, snowmobiling and ice fishing like all the other kids. I? get it they weren't expecting this, I would'nt have back in the day. The OFSC should use this to educate people. There should be a small amount of basic avalanche assessment and rescue in order to get a snowmobile license. Makes sense. Most governing bodies follow a re-active risk management policy.

The problem is no where in ontario do? we have this kind of terrain, so no one carries the equipment for it (beacons and probes). Ive grown up riding sleds in ontario my whole life, so when i get to a new spot, I do not automatically think of that area being a potential avalanche hazzard because I have NEVER thought of it before. Its like going to the desert wearing a life jacket, "just in case you might drown." See what I mean?

I feel connected in some small way to Native Americans, even though as far as I know I am of 100% European background. I am always very sad as to how Indians were treated by some of my forefathers. I don't know if there is any way I can make it up to them but I have deep respect for who they are and their customs. I would highly recommend going to New Mexico, it is a beautiful state and the light in the sky is very pretty at different times of the day. On this particular tree it was amazing the accuracy and judgement wrapped into the loggers of the day who had to do things for the most part 'the hard way'! It might seem a shame to have to cut these biggun's down, but to get the other wood out by rail and to actually make room to move logs about, I am sure this was emphasised because it was probably the largest in that local cutting area. The other may be only 500-1000 years old. This film was made specifically for the Cinema, and watching a tree the thickness of a telegraph pole being cut down is hardly gripping stuff is it. Watching this may? also serve to save many others. Just a thought.

That's why 96% of the original old growth Redwood have been cut down, and approx. 70% of old growth Douglas fir between 1935 and 1992. There were some real monsters felled in the old days, one log loads were common. occasional 400 foot trees have been reported. They're all gone now.
