By: babblesandbubbles. on 21 May 12, 23:38:25
also, I should also point out that the odds of finding a livable planet in a reachable distance is minimal. we? would have to tweek an uninhabitable planetary enviorment in the hope that we might set off an atmospheric chain reaction that could result in earth-like weather... and that might only work in theory. I think we should understand our own home before we go binge-spend & muck up anouther one.
By: babblesandbubbles. on 21 May 12, 23:27:46
I dissagree. if you look into space you'll find that there's a link between water and livable conditions. in my opinion, space is important but? you'd have to be pretty dense not to see a dire need to educate yourself about the oceans on earth that maintain life BEFORE looking to outerspace for en escape route...
By: jonesmedia. on 21 May 12, 22:48:02
Either way, my point is that preserving history 2 miles down at the bottom of the ocean is less important than STEM funding, which oceanographic ventures would certainly fall under. However, space is important. Having a? presence in space ensures the survival of our species independent from our planet.
By: babblesandbubbles. on 21 May 12, 22:45:31
we know more about space then we do about the sea... we? should be exploring the oceans.

By: GordanMFreeman. on 21 May 12, 16:45:24
Exactly, i find it sad that we finding funding wars and? 'bringing demcracy" around the world, more important than funding space research and exploration.

By: jonesmedia. on 21 May 12, 14:48:38
The Titanic and all who rode on it are long dead and gone, fund NASA instead. As Thomas Jefferson once said, "As the earth belongs to the living, not to the dead, a living generation can bind itself only." We need more STEM, not? to preserve a shipwreck where no one can see it for maybe a few extra hundred years. The Titanic will be rusted away despite any of our efforts eventually, but the evolution of technology and science builds on itself. Preserve books and knowledge instead, fund science.
By: tonyjburton. on 21 May 12, 14:27:28
Who is the senate again who is in favour of preserving the Titanic? He certainly has my support, I shocked at the amount of damage left by from submersibles. The ship is brital enough, I don't have anything against viewing the ship all I say is take care when doing? so. And it's this feeling that has really got me respecting the vision of Dr. Ballard, who wants the legacy of Titanic and all those who lost their lives preserved.
