Some of the best pieces of music I have heard are for drums or percussion only. Jazz drum solos are often melodic, harmonic, and colorful. Yeah, listening to nothing but a bad drummer is awful, so if you mean a terrible rock drummer or something, then sure... While I admit that hand clapping isn't really my favorite percussive sound (it can be unclear, inconsistent etc.), this is a rhythmic piece. But something like Reich's "music for pieces of wood"? is more pleasing to the ears.

I think sometimes it can be useful to see music in it's historical context. For example: It's interesting to know why there are pieces of the french national anthem in the 1812 overture of tchaikovsky. Sometimes understanding the context in which a certain piece is written is? essential to come to a good understanding of the piece. And that's true for historical context as well as philosophical context, etc. good performance btw. Have a good day.

The history of music starts with percussion. You don't? have to love this, but it's a fairly good percussion piece. (also, is every bad piece of music really an embarrassment to the entire history of music? I don't think it works like that. Music doesn't actually live in the context of music history- it is a part of the history, but it is judged as a piece on its own [which is to say that good music is not good because of its place in history, it is good because it is good music])

Can you even hear the polyrhythms that are happening? You can't hear the rhythmic complexity of this? Open up your dang ears! Obviously? it doesn't have a melody, but does that mean it's not music? I sure hope not, for the sake of percussionists everywhere.
