Nice one, thinks they should? do a DOS tutorial but doesn't know: 1. cmd.exe is very different to COMMAND.COM 2. Most people can't get EDIT.COM anymore due to lack of proper 'thunking' support. 3. We clear the screen with CLS, not CLR.

I remember back in May 2000, I was fairly new with computers and I messed up a Windows 95 installation by deleting an important OS file, on a 75 MHz Pentium computer. I had it for about a month, and I used to use it to write. Anyway, I was forced to use DOS, and by complete accident I typed in "edit" and had a word processor.? What were the chances. I kind of miss those days, just learning by myself how to use it.

A user can create a file using the copy con command which creates a.txt file. When you have completed creating the file, you can save and exit the file by pressing CTRL+Z, which would create ^Z, and? then press enter. An easier way to view and edit files in MS-DOS would be to use the edit command.

When you install DOS and Windows on the sames? drive you need to install the older operating system first. Then do a clean (not upgrade) install with Windows and you will have a dual boot menu, when you startup, where you can select either DOS or Windows. Hope this helps. Greg

This particular virus was a mild one as the video author points out. The ones that were particularly bad, were the ones that attempted to overwrite the master boot record. If a program succeeded in doing that, then it meant a serious problem. This is because you could easily infect your bootdisks in trying to do a clean install. So everything had to wiped clean first. Hugo's House of? Horrors, a fun little graphical text adventure. It was the first in a trilogy, followed by Hugo 2 Hudone'it (not sure if that's spelled right) and the 3rd I don't remember the title but it was in a jungle if I remember correctly. BUT? you could still write an application that stays memory resident until the autoexec.bat's done executing or calls an application that does some kind of callback function. The display on this notebook may be a passive matrix display. This explains the lag in the mouse response, ghosting, etc (although the refresh rate has a say in that too). Most laptops of the early 90s used either passive or active matrix displays. Active matrix displays use thin film transistors behind each pixel, which is the same as those of modern displays (makes for a? much better picture). The active matrix displays of the early '90s would add $1,000 or so to the price tag.

You'll need to check your hard drive specs to get those exact numbers, they vary by drive. Or you can just choose a hard drive that's close but not quite as large in the BIOS. For instance, my 200MB drive in my 386 wasn't listed in the BIOS, so I chose a 240MB drive of very similar specs and it works fine. You just may not be able to use 100% of the available disk space. Not ideal, but it works.?

I'm thinking about getting a 170MB HDD. In the BIOS, 170MB isn't a standard? Hard disk type, so when I go to Type 47 (user defined) There are 5 different settings that need to be filled in Cyln, Head, WPcom, LZone, sect And the hard disk's drive parameters are: 1010 cyl, 6 heads,55 spt 170.6 MB If you could tell me what numbers go where that would be awesome!

For historical reasons i watched the whole vid and lmao. Today we'd say "booooooring", but in those days that was a great time of playing video games and that FIFA 94 was a big progress in playing football on screen. I remember how hard it was to get that game. No game store in? town had a copy left, with two friends we had to drive about 40 km to find a store selling it. And there was no internet, no mobile phone and no navigation system. FIFA is the greatest game series ever!!!

I've been looking for footage of this game for a long, long time. It was a weird game. I remember when my family first got into DOS games like X-Com, Alone in the Dark, Cyberia, Myst, and 7th Guest, just to name a few. This game was released in 1997 and I finished it in 3 days. Not a very hard game, but it sure is a GREAT one!! Excellent graphics and FMVs. Action is also conducted in a very? interesting way. Argonaut Software had indeed succeeded. FIVE STARS!!

er... what? telnet? is not a 'hacker interface.' I'll show you a trick that is WAY better than anything here, and it will work much easier. Go to your start menu and then run (XP) or on Vista/7 just type it into the search box. Paste this: telnet towel.blinkenlights.nl Have fun! This is the equivilent of typing cmd -> telnet -> o towel.blinkenlights.nl. There is no 'telnet server 34.'

I've used pure dos, i had to insert a floppy disk to? run it, then insert a floppy disk to launch things. command prompt is dos scripting, but not dos itself.

This video was a complete fail. wasn't sure what i was doing. I got alot more? tricks that are a ton better than anything here, not sure if i'll actually make a video that has them though.
