Freakin Miki made a comment on the Lush web site, about how in live concerts on stage like at Lollapalooza, they couldn't compete with the Nirvana grunge stuff, dudes? like...I don't guess so...this stuff is fuckin Philamonic concert hall stuff. Frightening isn't it? And I was born in 1990, everyday of my adolescence I regretted what I couldn't control, which is of course, being born at least 6 years earlier to experience the 90's consciously. The 1990s were very distinct, unique time, even though some of the styles at that time derived elsewhere. My absolute favorite band? from this era was Suede. They were fucking incredible. Lush is not far behind.

I really don't even understand why people animal test. I mean, animals have different reactions to us, as we are all different species. It's sick and cruel. there's something about the continuity of this song in both this original release and the spooky remix that give a great sense of euphoria. in spooky, the music alone is great, but this one has miki & emma's pleasantly hypnotic vocals to accompany the music. it's hard to distinguish to which one is my personal favorite. it's one of? those rare instances in which both the repetition of the music in its distinguishable riff can stand on it's own, and the song and lyrics give a little more. awesome

I thought I'd add my bit of knowledge to what? I learned about this video after speaking with his widow and the pianist. It was taped in April 1983 and he had not yet been diagnosed with cancer but was definitely experiencing some problems. He had to cancel a May gig in England and was diagnosed after that. This is probably his final performance anywhere. It's fitting that it was "Lush Life."

Thanks for the post. I have been looking forever for a live vid. of my favorite all-time? crooner. I have been collecting all of his music since I heard him for the first time on the 'Bridges of Madison County' soundtrack. It saddens me that he didn't get the recognition he deserved. Billy Eckstine was my fav. till I heard Johnny! He's timeless.

That's correct. He finished it by the time he was 17. Even more amazing to think about at the time, is that this was now the early 1930's, so when you think of this song in a harmonic? context.. it's staggering.
