I? wonder if half the immigrants pouring into the U.S. know what space exploration is. New 3rd world United States on its way.
By: cannonbulk. on 26 May 12, 09:08:54
I think what? you're referring to is people who are contracted by the government. The government spends the most money but instead of giving it to public servants (people who are employed DIRECTLY by the government) the money goes to private contractors who in turn employ people.
By: drumslayer27. on 22 May 12, 21:27:58
If you got to see one of these launch in person it's incredible. Especially night launches, the sky goes from pitch? black to looking like afternoon in seconds.

Nerve? No? join NASA to get rich. If you look up the Fed pay scale, GS11 or GS12 are PhD, 40-50k starting pay is not alot.
By: AntiMatter3000. on 16 May 12, 00:52:36
That's funny you say that...since people are usually paid much more when working for the government..compared to private companies and etc.. my mother has been a nerve for 35 years.. and barely makes over the average USA salary... this girls mom I used to talk to..her mother made over one hundred thousand yearly..and she worked for like a decade... NASA scientist make more than scientist who work for private companies i'm sure lol?
By: mattrR678. on 16 May 12, 00:52:26
One can make the same argument about a new CEO or a takeover of a company by? a competitor.
By: mattrR678. on 16 May 12, 00:49:20
A scientist working for NASA, make average salary for their fields, not millions. Two of the greatest invention of our time, the internet and Atomic power were developed by the government. Space exploration is not profitable in that way. It too expensive, too much risk. You can't stick it in a box and sell it at? your local Wal-Mart. For profit companies invest when their is a clear way to make a profit, like making drugs for example.
By: AntiMatter3000. on 16 May 12, 00:34:43
Plus in private space flight.. you don't have one president set a plan..just to have the next one come in , get rid of it..and create his own..the president after him didn't think the previous presidents plans for space exploration were right..so he scraps the plans as well..so in the process..nothing? ever gets done.
By: AntiMatter3000. on 16 May 12, 00:33:51
A lot of them were indeed doing it for the money. You're naive if you think other wise. A lot of space companies could replace NASA. They'll just be able to bring more profit down to earth as they expand the knowledge of mankind. With private companies, come innovation. NASA is SUPPOSED to put the seeds in place, to allow private companies to grow...because they'll compete for launches, and compete to get things done? quicker.
By: mattrR678. on 16 May 12, 00:28:40
I have nothing against people who make money, or even people who make alot of money. But their are things that matter more than just money, advancement of knowledge for example. Scientists, who worked for NASA, were not doing it for the money, in reality they were not making that? much. Space is a long term investment, not sometimes you can make a quick buck on. Private companies cannot replace NASA, who goal was the advancing the mankind," One small step for man, one giant leap for mankind"
By: AntiMatter3000. on 16 May 12, 00:20:07
Also, private companies usually innovate better, also, they want private. Taking $100,000 from about 10-12 people isn't as? profitable as taking 100$ from thousands of people.
By: AntiMatter3000. on 16 May 12, 00:19:05
Also, NASA was mainly about gaining a strategic advantage in space over the? soviets, NOT for "advancing the knowledge of mankind" That was a secondary goal.
By: AntiMatter3000. on 16 May 12, 00:18:35
Also, I hope you know that, the middle class of America, would be considered the 1 percent in most other places of the world, especially the third world. I am a black guy, who grew up in foster homes, sort of poor..I have nothing against people who are poor..and neither are you, not everybody who worked for money,? is evil. Are you going to tell me pro athletes are evil?
By: mattrR678. on 15 May 12, 23:32:20
I don't know if your serious or not, but private companies very? interest in space except for flying the 1% around for tourism. Companies want to make profit, NASA wanted to advance the knowledge of mankind.
By: MyDakota24. on 15 May 12, 19:50:24
dude are you serious your stupid as fuck when earth is about to be destroyed and nasa has starships built and there evacuating people off earth you and the other stupid fucks who believe that were spending to much money on nasa youll be like please let us go and? well all be like no you stay and get blown up on this rock we call a planet

HANDS DOWN THE MOST AMAZING MACHINE EVER BUILD BY MAN, ASIDE FROM THE SATURN 5 AND APOLLO? SPACECRAFT.
By: fammyzap. on 02 May 12, 01:45:13
If the government only provides 5% of what they provide the Army, we'd have already stepped on Mars. NASA is still doing such wonders with such limited resources,? one can only imagine our bounds if we get more funds..
By: 5150gamer. on 01 May 12, 18:35:49
its a shame that in 2012 we are more concerned with the national debt, healthcare, racism, religion, and other bullshit. The fact that we are able to leave our own planet and discover new worlds is truly amazing, yet we are still too stupid to become? one with each other and work toward our goals as a whole. We are more concerned about money than the universe which completely astonishes me.

Thank god this thing was cancelled, it? was a great thing to have..but this thing should be been cancelled in the 90's. I'm glad OBAMA is pushing for private space
By: bamarocks777. on 28 Apr 12, 07:00:16
Russians used the Soyuz rockets. You would probably say that they used the N1? rocket to get the Mir space station.
By: amgen52. on 25 Apr 12, 22:08:57
The Russians had to take some heavier pieces. The orbit where the ISS was built benefited the Russian launch site and not KSC. The shuttle had to fly an 57 degree inclination to the ISS that reduced its capacity to carry items to that orbit. It had to be an orbit where both countries could reach. What the shuttle carried was not that much lighter. The shuttle has carried 59,000lb payloads? into certain orbits.
