I knew Hearns could outbox Hill! I called it. It was his first real fight outside of Bismarck. I think Hearns? won this one close. In his prime, he would have taken apart Kinchen. But After the Barkley KO in 88 his legs used to go every time he got hit square.

@Kedbuka Too me it really boiled down to the last round and I scored that round for Hearns. Kinchen was by no means ripped off in this fight. It was a close & a draw @ best for Kinchen, IMO. Did U c the Marcos Miadana vs? Andriy Kotelnyk fight? It was kind of like this fight, minus the knockdown. I had Kotelnyk winning a very close decision, he landed the cleaner punches & blocked a lot of Miadana's punches, but was hit by Miadana's sloppy punches. Did u c that fight & who do u think won it.

Okay, fair enough. I was just saying Kinchen demonstrated a good chin in this fight and came right at Tommy. He stood straight in front of him the way few fighters have ever done and beyond that, bullied him about the ring. I disagree with your scoring but that's no? big deal. IMO, Hearns was a great fighter with a HUGE punch and underrated boxing skills, but he had a weak chin. Apart from that, he seemed to be a decent guy outside the ring.

I gave 2 and 8 to Kinchen, making it 114-112 for hearns. what fucking fight were these people watching. Hearns landed the cleaner punches, clear was the better boxer, counter puncher. Just because James took his punches ppl? thinks James should win on the bases of that. Damn. Didn't tommy prove these asshole announcers wrong! Beating SRL and then a prime Virgil Hill 3 years later.

114-112 for hearns. I don't care what punches Kinchen took, you don't win fights that way. These asshole announcers are making Kinchen out to be nothing, by saying tommy shouldn't fight again. These same announcers had Ray Leonard winning the fight with Hearns before it started. RL admitted? Hearns won the second fight. Then 3 years after Clancy said he wouldn't want to see hearns in the ring again hearns wins lightheavyweight title from a prime Virgil Hill. There is my scoring.

@KedbukaI think Hearns did take this fight very seriously in retrospect, he was coming off a loss. I give Kinchen his due. I just was not a fan of Virgil Hill and it was my hope that Kinchen was the man to beat him and was utterly destroyed. He was caught with a counter left hook, by Hill, it the one you don't see that gets you. Also I have not watch? entire fight, Hearns - Kinchen. After 5 rounds, I have it 47-46 for Kinchen. I'll watch and give my honest opinion - unbiased as possible.

Whether Hearns took him seriously or not, he drilled Kinchen with a number of good shots? with no real effect. So in this fight anyway, Kinchen's chin was very sturdy. And furthermore, he deserved the decision.

Kinchen was? destroyed in one round by Virgil Hill in 89 and in 2 rounds Prince Charles Williams. His chin held up in this fight, but not those and Hill was not considered a puncher. Also 2 years after Hill destroyed Kinchen, Hearns easily outboxed Virgil to win the WBA light heavyweight title. I do not think Hearns took this guy seriously.

i definatly agree. i had hearns winning the first 3 rounds in my opinion.? So after that crazy 4th round which i scored 10-7 aswell for kinchen i had it 37-37 going into the 5th. And he CLEARLY won the the fight from then onwards.

Hill was an excellent fighter but this was a lucky punch. He may have beaten Kinchen anyway but think: Kinchen walked through Thomas Hearns' best right hands all night and barely blinked, yet a light hitter like Hill? manages to wobble him like that? It was one of those moments where a fighter by chance lands the perfect shot. Like when Michael Nunn knocked Sambu Kalambay cold even though he wasnt a big hitter and Kalambay had a granite chin. It was a little lucky with Hill.

You cannot really say he beat Hearns when he didn't. Heanrs fought his heart out and won a decision. Kinchen thought because he hurt Hearns in round? 4 and had a 3 point round, he could not be busy like Hearns was. I don't know how anyone can think Hearns lost that fight. Knockdowns are great, but they do not make a win if there are 8 rounds remaining and there are no more knockdowns.
