An amazing band!? Wish I could have been at Isle of White all those years ago to be part of this magic atmosphere. I was lucky enough, to see them live in the '70's at Manchester University Student's Union Hall, UK. Was up close to stage and experienced it ALL!!! Andy's unique style of earthy bass, Simon's perfectly tuned drums with the crispest sounding snare ever! Paul Rodgers soulful talanted voice, and Kossoff literally strangling his Les Paul with such Passion to make is Sing on a high!!!

Yeah well when you saw this band they were really very good. Kossof just stood in front of the? amps and felt every note. Andy Fraser just swayed from side to side in time with everything (including largish hat). What can you say about Paul Rogers - first mic stand grinder. Those were the (wonderful) days and this brings it all back. Should not forget very tight drum timing by Simon to hang it all together.

Because Levon Helm was the spokesperson of the band (Band ) I thought they were? all good'ol boys like him. It actually does appear to be early video tape footage. There is precious little footage from IOW '69... in '70 there was a ton of cameras and 8 track audio as well. Festival concert sound was? in its infancy. You can tell by all the many boom stands that litter the stage they really hadn't much experience!

I love Clapton on John Mayall and Bluesbreakers, and especially Derek and the Dominos ( check that album, its wonderful ) but rest.... He just evolved into mainstreem rock filled with blues.. don´t get me wrong, Bad love or Forever man are really good songs but its not pure blues ( or bluesrock)... I remember few years ago when they performed in Romania, the Pussycat Dolls was right before them and the whole crowd started to yell at them and finally they were kicked off the stage, being replaced by the Prodigy. They had a tremendous performance for almost two hours and? finally Keith Flint jumped into the people right there, being carried out by their hands, while Max watched the whole thing and burned the whole atmosphere with a single mic. Thank you guys for everything!! ONE WORD: AWESOME

Shut up about comparing Free with Zep all the time. Ive got all the free albums and all the led Zep albums. The don't sound anything like each other. Free was a great funky bluesy band that carved a lot of soul out there,,,on mono radio with no tv coverage they influenced? a lot of early hard rock , and many people like me were extremely grateful to have them around. They donthave the extremities of Zep, but they got magic brother BIG TIME

I just want to say that I didn't check this video out to hate on Free. i came because I was interested in hearing them play in a festival I admire, and I thought they had a similar sound to Zep. However, I also thought they were inferior to said band. So I commented as such. ..the more I listen to this concert I am moved by the historicalness of this... yes, THE Isle of Wight ( 1970? ) w/ Hendrix, Ten Years After, The Who, Taste, etc... but, again, THIS band...FREE....wow !... imagine: plywood, steel griders, lots of electrical cables, lots of canvas covers, 250, 000 devotees in the middle of wind-swept land by the sea.....and THIS awesome sublime R & B music.... ...Fantastic !!!

solid 3peice drum kit,ploddy funky bass,sublime flawless guitar playing with THAT amazing vibratto sound? only koss could do and the clearest voice in rock music and all of them still only 20 and under at the time. safe to say 1970 Isle Of Wight belonged to Free. once again my pleasure Sam4 and music lovers all over earth.
