unfortunately corn based plastics and such take a lot of energy to make, and land, water, etc. that should be used for food. what we really? need to do is stop all unessential use of plastic. carry a metal water carier instead of plastic bottles for instance. and no more cheap dollar store crap from China, we don't need this shit! kids don't need a bunch of plastic toys to be happy, take them to a park.
