Sometimes there's such a thing as too much jargon. Function objects -> The language isn't object oriented so they use functions as objects and all them function objects. Hang behavior off -> "smart" way to say it can "tell" stuff how to do stuff. You don't have it tell stuff what to do by extending public api ->? you don't add everything it could possibly do to a resource for portraying what it can do. There's too much. Scope is like blinders for a horse for the program/components.

When? it comes to software, I'm an early adopter. I'm using Chrome 20.0.1096.1 dev-m and it apparently randomly puts some users in the HTML5 YouTube beta program. I went to the YouTube HTML5 page and opted out. Now I can view videos without stuttering on my Athlon XP using Flash 11.2. Perhaps they should query whether a computer is dual core or higher?

Step 1: Get a single core machine under 2GHz and run a Flash video at 480p. Notice the smooth playback. Step 2: Run the same video using HTML5? and watch it stutter like f**k. In the end, HTML5 needs to optimized a lot more to run on low-powered low-clocked systems to make a dent in Flash "market share". Also, I don't appreciate that Google Chrome 19.0.1084.1 dev-m chooses HTML5 for some videos and Flash for others since I'm not in the beta test for HTML5 on YouTube.

The physics engine is really resource-intensive and (I think) uses HTML 5 in the online version, so we wouldn't? have been able to make angry birds work very smoothly online say, 3-5 years ago without modern browsers.

An exagerration. First of all,? it's Quake2, not Quake1 that was ported. Secondly, Quake3 and Rage iOS have been ported and shown to run. In fact, the more modern games offload more work to the GPU, paradoxically, they can run well in JS. For example, Quake2 does keyframe interpolation in Javascript, but in newer games, this is done with vertex shaders. Not all games are CPU bound.

The bezier curves and 3D CSS rotations are interesting, but unless you're planning on spending a lot of time hard coding? transforms on each axis over time you're gonna need an IDE like Flash to do more than just rotations around a single axis, like making keyframe adjustments, previewing the animation over time and then export the movie clip. I'm assuming these guys already have the benefit of using an in-house equivalent.

There is no particle library in WebGL wiki. WebGL is specification, not ANY library used in 3D graphics. Library presented in the video is named ThreeD Library. You can find it on googlecode. You? can use ThreeJS which is much, much easier, and then there is SparksJS for particles in ThreeJS. Good luck.

Although Native Client will come out at some point and C++ or .NET C# through Mono will be on there, so i'll just stick with that as it does what I need and runs on everything I wan't. Also I notice you can't return the starting method bracket. I very much? dislike that standard. Go is focused on pleasing Java and Javascript devs... I don't think its for me.

You are correct to assume that Go's design scope does not (yet) include the kinds of domains for which vector processing could be useful. However, it does seem that polymorphism (which includes multiple dispatch) is in fact the primary concern, along with some enhancements to readability. I'm sure that if you presented a viable use case to the mailing list that you'd know if and when those things might be added, or at least spur discussion of? alternative solutions.

P3: Go's focus seems to only be about services. C/C++ or C# have much bigger perspectives as all of them are used in devices, games, robotics, services, graphics, GUI's, ect. You have to use special tools in things like Java to get custom operators and I don't want to see the same thing happen to Go as I like some of its concepts but will never use it unless it has custom? operators or multiple overloads.

Well you can't in Go and that is a problem if you want consistent clean and clear to understand "mathematical" code (aka data crunching code). Rly there are three needed things here for proper vector processing. Strucks, Custom Operators? and multiple overloads. Go only has strucks. Multiple overloads would be for thinks like dot products (vec.Dot() or vec.Dot(vec2)).

P1: My perspective comes from the 3D world, graphics? and games, which most ppl making these languages seem to pay no mind. If you are trying to write a simple physics engine or processing a bunch of vertex calculations,.. this need for custom operators would become very clear. Vectors should be used like generic types, just as they are in HLSL or GLSL because in concept generics are vectors too (float x = Vector1D, float x,y = Vector2D, float x,y,z = Vector3D).
