that's a hard shot to do. To make that golf ball pop straight up like that requires a high degree of skill plus a lot of concentration. The ball must be struck very precisely with just the right amount of downward force to compress the ball against the ground without imparting any spin on the ball. I tried to do this trick shot? and hurt myself ( I won't mention where) so do be cautious please.

To me the moment of Truth in the Golf swing is in the take away. The first 2 to 2 1/2 feet, you should feel that your right palm and back of left hand are virtually pointed at the ground, shortly before waist high and NO wrist cock, untill after that point(right handed golf swing). This movement I've described is for full swings and does not apply so much to the short game, obviously. If you want to verify the power of this takeaway, try it on the practice range, it works but? few realize it!!

Ive been going back and forth on this but, he's right, the hips resist on the back swing and the lower body drives? the down swing. I've had issues with my upper body controlling the downswing which results in an erratic game on the course although it looks great on the range. working the lower body on the down swing ensure a smooth transition and weight shift.

@imjustkindahere Best instructor in the world ? I don't think you can really have number one coach, different players bond & click with different coaches & their teaching philosophies.? From the YouTube videos I've seen of Hank he sounds a rank amateur compared to some coaches. I've know coaches who are god awful and yet have a following of successful players. Those players would also be successful however if Micky mouse was their coach.

Injuries ruined Tigers wing. He was always to? athletic with his motions and suffered many injuries with Harmon so he hoped Haney would give him a smoother swing. Worked for a bit of time but, old habits are hard to break. He puts way to much pressure on his left knew which still bothers him

Asking this question because I honestly do not know the answer. Has Hank Haney ever played on the PGA or won any PGA golf tournaments? I can't find anything about him doing so. I like the 'train? track' idea Charlie, to get you hitting down on the ball slightly. This is something I need to do, as most of my longer irons just keep on running once they hit the ground, which means I have to plan for that inmy approach shots. This makes the game evben harder on certain holes!

Actually, opening the face is probably the most UNcommon cause of the shanks... having players think that this is the cause is very dangerous because then you have them closing the club face immensely, thus further upsetting their? swing. Jimmy is half right on this one. Getting the left elbow turning down is key, because it promotes staying connected, and staying connected keeps the club on the proper orbit. OTOH, pulling the heel of the club down often gets people moving the club out from the body, and the orbit moves out, causing a shank. I'm guessing JB knows this, but his explanation isn't going to convince many.?

I notice I hit the ball off the heel 90% of the time with the long irons and driver, because with the long clubs I sometimes take the club farthur away from my body to get my ark wider and consequently the clubface ends up a few centimeters in front of the ball. I disagree to an extent. If you try what he is saying you will hit a lot of dead pulls with the irons and also a lot of fan shots. If you intitiate the downswing with the left? hip turning to the left, centrifugal force will square the clubhead. You dont have to manipulate it the way Ballard is saying. The golf swing is too quick to be manipulating the hands in the downswing.

That is a possibility, but not very likely. I have never seen anyone on film (or in person for that matter) that would be able to keep the club so open that the heel is the first point of contact. At that position, even if they made contact with the face first, the ball would shoot completely to the right anyway. The shanks would be the least of their worries. A person that unaware of a? grossly open face does not have the shanks; they are just a beginner without any fundamentals.

Theres a drill to fix steep fat shots, slicing and lack of turn. First you set up normal, then turn your feet pointed towards the target and your belt buckle pointed at the target. But have your shoulders in normal postion set up to the ball. Itll be very hard to make a full back swing unless your a flexible, strong person. But this drill eliminates slices, makes you hit further, and gets rid of swaying. If you? dont understand just send me a message. Its the best drill ive ever done.

A graphite shaft helps add more distance for someone who doesn't swing that hard.... like hank haney.The flex in the shaft will actually generate more lag in the golf swing? causing the ball to go further. Ok. All of the instructors say the same thing. But none can say what brings the club in the hitting position shaft level? again right hand and arm or left. If the club falls in there then it's to late to carry it to the ball. So for a beginner it is hard to visualize and by that time you don't even know where the club head is. Just don't lose the club head and keep it leading all the way back and forth. The rest will happen automatically

Have the whole movie, and here comes a true story Went out, played 7 holes of golf before watching steps 3-4 of his dvd, had a terrible heel push going the whole time. Came back to the range, turned on my ipod and watched till 45 minutes, doing small adjustments,? and taking his drills seriously. Went from a 130 meter 8 iron (which is upsetting), to a 145 meter 8 iron (about a 20 yard difference), with no push, dead straight ball flight. If that isnt enough, it gave me alot more confidence too :)

We do have the ability to stop and check we are in roughly the right position. There is also something called a 'video', which is ideal for analysing these positions. And yes, you can see your lag on even a pocket camcorder (eg Kodak Zi6). As for Jim, YES, I have been coached? by him. Ive seen him about 5 times. My current pro, who has transformed me from a 14 handicap hacker, to 5 handicap decent ball striker, bases all of his teaching on this guy-X Factor etc. SORRY PAL UR WRONG
