Jeff, this is one of the best explanations of the down swing sequence that I've come across online. I have suffered from a horrendous slice as I have struggled with the transition of an inside out baseball? swing to a golf swing. As a collegiate Baseball player, watching this video coupled with your 'baseball mentality' video finally gave me that "aha" moment. I went out and practiced this and had instantaneous improvement. Hey Jeff it's Orson again, played golf today without any range work with the one plane? swing missed only 3 fairways, the only problem was i could not hit a green. I am really excited about playing golf now, i just need to work on my impact and irons. Thanks so much your videos was real helpful

Calling fritolaytwists an "idiot" was totally unnecessary. He is quite right in terms of how to practically produce the effect. Most pros will teach you to aim your target line where you want the ball to start and aim the clubface where you want it to finish... before gripping the club. The ball may indeed start where the clubface aims at impact, but that's no way of instructing? someone how to do it.

you are not supposed to change your swing, this game is about habit, this method could start MANY bad habits. Its easier just to aim a few yards right or? left of target (with legs and body) and aim the club face at the flagstick (or fairway) and swing with your bodyline. but, if this works for you, go ahead and do it...

ironically enough, i just changed my swing? (again) and now what produces the draw or fade is my ball position. closer to rear foot makes a low draw, front foot...high fade. as i said, quite a versatile sport lol

If you hit a fade to the center of a green, aim at the left side while keeping your club aimed at the center of the green. DRAW: Switch the aim of the feet.? Personally, hitting the fade is easier and I recommend starting with this shot first. Plus you get more control - no sense hitting it long if you have no idea where it's going.

I think it is easier to take the same swing but adjust the grip to either weak(fade) or draw strong. If you start messing with how far you stand from the ball you? can get into trouble.

On the contrary loganeast,? gripping the club tighter with your left hand (assuming you're a right handed golfer), will INHIBIT the clubhead from rolling over. The looser your left hand, the more the clubhead will NATURALLY roll over. No offense, but this is what pro's have been teaching for 15 years bud.

Enjoy your vid's Bobby and as usual,good advice, but in view of the fact that most people like me might hit 200-300 practice balls a week, (If I'm lucky) hitting 10,000 is not happening. In? that case a great tip I picked up was to SLOW MY SWING DOWN TO 70/80 % OF NORMAL instead of trying to 'cream' it. I was frankly amazed at how quickly my timing and shots improved and by how much, and WITH SO MUCH LESS EFFORT !!!

i have the same exact problem. i'm new to golf and i can hit a 6 iron further than i can hit my driver. i don't know if its just? because the driver scares me, and throws off everything i'm doing. but whatever, i gotta fix it. i know a lot of people who just use irons and don't even bother touching the driver.

I can't really hit my Driver / 3 wood. I can flush every iron in my bag beautifully every time I address and hit the ball,? but with my driver / 3 wood, the ball usually stays low and strays to the left a short distance. Since holding on tighter helps some, you might just want to try holding on tighter with your left hand (assuming you're a right handed golfer). This should help the clubhead roll over more at impact bringing it square or even possibly causing a slight draw. Try to practice it first, then take it to the course.?

There could be any number of reasons. But the usual culprit is that the clubface is either not square at impact or your moving from too far inside on the downswing. This is the condition that would cause the ball to push or slice to the? right. This is a problem for 75% or more of amateur golfers. You are not alone. Bobby (the golf pro in the video) tells me often that if it wasn't for the slice, he'd be out of business. But without seeing your swing, it's hard to say what's causing it.

Are you kidding me??? Hogan and Woods rotate their hips? to the target. Their rotation is so quick that their lag in their swing makes it seem as if their sliding. Don't talk if you don't know what you're talking about. If you're not a pro then you have no right to make any corrections to this lesson. You want more distance and straighter shots listen to this guy

yes very good vedio,this is very athletic? move though, if you cant make that turn on a one pivot then use the bump technique where you bump your legs to the left and you hips will follow with a good turn, bu this is how golf was taught with the full hip rotation back then when it was more athletic then today

i do agree with some of the comments. The hip should first move towards the target, not sway, but sort of "bump". It help me to actually drop my club and right arm into the "slot" in order to swing from the inside. When the hip rotate too soon or "clear" too early, unless you are an extraordinary atlthlete, you could end up over the? top...... not sure why he suggested that, he hit like a great golfer...

This guy is nuts. Most weekend golfers to not move their hips towards the target like he shows. Most weekend golfers end up never getting their weight back onto their left side. They stay on their right side, go over the top and then flip at the bottom which leads to a? high, pull slice or just a slice. Look at Hogan and Tiger, they both have a fairly substantial hip slide toward the target before starting the downswing.

This is a great video. Not understanding why there is so much fuss over what he is? saying. Makes perfect sense to me. My mishits are pushed shots, and what he is saying will help me keep my club going straight down the target line resulting in my shots going where i want them too.

This is an example of a good player not knowing how to teach. He talks about weekend golfers turning their hands over, which virtually NEVER happens in high handicappers. More important, he is explaining a dangerous swing thought? which will stop all progress towards the target. Notably, the instructor himself does a very small, but needed "hip bump" prior to spinning his hips. Without that little bump at 1:51 in the video, his swing wouldn't look so nice and fluid. I like his videos on timing.

ben hogan actually had slight hip slide although it seemed dramatic. but if you see his swing, his head still remains in position meaning his upper body stayed behind and caused greater tilt as with most good ball strikers. and? that is NOT very easy to do. but for average golfers, his method is very good to get the correct feel. if you want to add more power, you need to have the fundamentals down first. I personally find Booby Jones's swing much butter like.

He's not wrong. If your hip moves toward the target, bottom of your swing goes forward as well. What you mean is, your abdomen should go toward the target. What you described will cause? imbalance and certainly can't be effortless. your arms swivel around your spine. and what is connected to your spine? your hips. remember it's weight shift, not center shift.

Comments so far indicate a dangerous misunderstanding. There are a million methods of swinging a golf club, and this one is eminently valid. It's not a Hogan/Woods swing. It's a Vardon/Goosen swing, right arm powered. The body follows, it does not lead. This video is misleading, to a spin out. In this swing the first move is an attempt to uncock the right elbow, on plane, before any other? body motion. That left hip turn is to be allowed, in coordination and response to the right arm.

while I know that this is great stuff, I must agree that it's for better players. I have been suggesting to anyone that asks advice of me that they put correct hip actions into their swings - but no one? is physically capable of doing it. It's beyond the average golfer to develop this hip rotation, sometimes, sadly.

This guy is? basically advocating an arms only swing. Take your clubs and run. Your handicap will thank you for it. All better golfers start with a small bump of the left hip which drops the club and gets the weight shifted to the left. Without this small move, the club won't be able to drop into the correct plane in a 2-plane golf swing.
