There are better examples of "good" golfers that use the interlock. Tiger? is just an average pro golfer now. That's all I meant by it. Hi RoseAussie: If you don't hold the grip in your fingers you will tend to slice or pull slice the ball because you aren't able to get the clubface back to a square position. Usually the body will try to help you with direction so you develop a? pull slice. These shots can land in the fairway but create that banana ball (starts left and slices to the right). If you do use this grip your shots have a better chance to go straighter. Thanks!

Great Video. I have been battling a slice for years. I just tried the grip and went to the range and was hitting Draws!!! The key is the left hand. Hold it in the fingers. Hi Shawn, have you any vids on the wrist hinge from? half way back? I saw some vids that say the arms should go straight up after the half way back position but when I try that I slice the ball, I draw the ball when I hinge my right wrist towards the back of the wall behind me at the range giving me a slightly laid off position, it's as if I'm hitting the back of the wall with my clubface is this wrong?

Shawn, I did get your emaill re: videos to watch. I will check them out. This is a very good explanation of the grip. I have two questions though. I have very short fingers and? a std. grip size seems to inhibit the roll of the wrist you demonstrate in this video. Is that possible? Or can a sliding of the hips in the downswing (most likley the head also) keep the wrists from rotating and hinging on the downswing properly. Or a combination of both of the above.

Love your videos, Shawn. I'm curious about your? swing. I watched your swing on this video frame by frame and noticed that your upswing is steeper than your downswing. I've seen other pros preaching about one plane swing. From a beginner's point of view (me), I would guess that momentum automatically corrects the path of the club. Would you say then, your swing is more natural?

Steve best videos on youtube.Can you tell me? how important it is to have you head behind the ball at impact.Some have claimned that if you don't make a lateral move to the left before the hip turn your head will be past the ball creating over the top and other problems.Please help. George

Thanks Steve. Good explanation on what the V does. That is to confused most players. Like your idea that? the left thumb is meant to provide support at the top and keeps it square.

I'm a confused beginner lady golfer. I use the interlocking grip and I know I feel stronger with my right arm controlling my action in hitting the golf ball. Should I convert to the overlapping grip and think more? along the lines of swinging the golf club to hit the ball?

Steve, Last time I checked you are backwards. In your video you have your hands in your "hook position" which actually promotes a fade by not allowing the hands and arms to rotate at impact to square or slightly closed. Same with "your fade" grip, this grip promotes a hook! If you do? have the grip to strong you may push the ball, but your fade grip definitely promotes a hook. I mean last time I read the PGA Teaching Manual it did.
