Personally, I think it was John saying he always worshiped idols,? whether it was God or Elvis or the Maharishi or rock, and now he was just going to be himself. He was not going to be a follower any more. He was going to be the leader of his own life and soul. And that implies that, since he himself was an idol to so many, he wanted them to let go of that and stop the worship of him and The Beatles that made them out to be gods.

Not sure where you're going with that, most of Drake's beats are? a lot better than this. This sounds like a dumbed down version of what Aphex Twin was doing 15 years ago with a cheesy vocal track laid on top. It's not a terrible song, but between the two Drake is a lot more creative and clever.
