Michael Keashammer is extremely talented. What he does on piano is absolutely amazing. To be able to do all the piano parts plus sing is very rare. Piano is a highly underrated instrument. It is soooo hard to play, and here he is singing on top of playing two parts. It's like playing three instruments at the same time. Awesome...awesome.. awesome. I've seen him live and? shook his hand. He has large mitts!

First time I saw him he was 18 years old, and was playing in my hometown (also his, at that time) Victoria B.C., I'd never heard of him, nor had anyone else at the festival. Kid came out, sat down, ripped off the loudest, fastest, most impressive version of John Brown's Body I (or? anyone else) had ever heard, and got a standing ovation. Tore the stage apart. Who asked the cameraman and editor to "keep up with the music"? Who needs them as a metronome?! Their job is to document the music and let the audience(TV, DVD, YouTube) enjoy the music for what it is. If you need an example of what I am talking about: go to see Le Cirque du Soleil live, then watch one of the videos of their shows. The videos can not compare: they do many camera angles, fast cuts, editing? all over the pace, as though they are trying to re-make the performance.

I agree! It's as though the director of photography and editor got together and said "this isn't fun enough, upbeat enough, we need to make it come alive..." Clearly an example of more-is-less. I'd rather see one set camera than all of this fast cuts, the silly stage lighting... This music can stand quite well on its own. The editing reminds me of when people film Le Cirque du Soleil or a modern? dance performance and try to "choreograph" with the camera & editing. Ouch!

Repitition isn't necssarily what prevents a piece from being emotional. Look at pieces in the Romantic era. Some are fairly repetiive, but? it doesn't make them any less interesting to listen to (although arguably, maybe they did "use" it in a more clever manner than the Classical composers). Either way, I think Beethoven and Bach are wonderful in their own ways! Have ytou heard Beethoven's Emperor Concerto? The second movement, in particular, is very nice.

Exquisite! I played this, but only a small fraction as well as this; a very small fraction, like 1/100th. lol If you love this, you'll love it played on his CD on a 1912 Bosendorfer. ? PERFECTION! The sound quality is incredible! He must have the best studios in the business because the sound quality of his CDs are much richer than my other CDs. Amazing quality, and renditions of Beethoven and Chopin. Mr. Erez is the KING of Beethoven and Chopin.

honestly I have never liked beethoven at all yet I like a very wide array of classical composers well known and less known before, contemporary and after him. I find his music irritatingly insistent, repetitive, pompous. I sincerely think he was? no genius at all. Noise and fortissimos is not grandeur. I have met other musicians who feel the same. - This tempo sounds much better because I hear notes that appear missing when artists simply rush through this piece as if they're in a hurry. I was listening to Mr. Erez' CD just yesterday played on a 1912 Bosendorfer and was admiring his rendition of this piece so? much that I played it over and over because of the tempo. You can really appreciate every, single, note. Arrau also plays at this tempo: watch?v=BbGLNZpatRA&feature=related
