Ich habe? eine deutsch-schwedisch-stämmige Freundin, die in den USA lebt. Sie hat das Autofahren in Deutschland gelernt und die Geschwindigkeitsbegrenzungen in den USA sind ein Horror für sie. Zudem verursachen die langsamen Geschwindigkeiten (die Leute telefonieren ohne Freisprechanlage, essen, spielen sich an den Bällchen rum), Witz-Führerscheine, Rücksichtslosigkeit und zu laxe Verkehrsregeln in den USA fast 3-mal so hohe Raten von tötlichen Autounfällen wie in Deutschland. The sad thig is that in Germany they have just started experimenting with the USA university model. In spite of complaints and resistant from students? and faculty who say the American model doesn't allow the student the time and freedom to study, many private universities in Germany are adopting the system because it is profitable, Students get quickly in and quickly out whether they have learned anything or not. I love the German idea? for education. I wish the USA would adopt their idea of a cheap, affordable, quality university and make it better. Only way we can beat Europe is if we adapt and change our ways. USA has the idea that spending more means a better university-- not entirely. I'm from India & I studied Engineering for a while in Germany. There is a trade-off. Children in India are more motivated to learn? than German students, I found. There's also A LOT less competition-- I loved this! Also, teachers are more frank and give less examples; they give less teaching time. Finally, they have less breaks & longer classes but shorter days. In Germany, it went from 12 to 18:00. In India, it was from 10 to 19:00 for me. I have never been to USA so I will have to c how it is.

I was living in the same german city and actually the dorms at the campus are way much better than the average american dorms of just 1 tiny room with 4 beds and a microwave. In Germany there are appartments, not dorms, so you live with 3 more people and each of you have their own very comfortable bedroom with furniture, there are 2 badrooms in each appartment (1 shared by 2 people) and a very? good size kitchen. Ok, you don't pay 200 USD as she said but like 270 USD. That's AWESOME Germany!!! ;)

How can I provide statistics for my opinion? I never said anything about the US being ranked higher by anyone other than myself... You seem to have missed the part where I was giving my opinion? and you were trying to argue facts....which you then refused to back up. Side note that I am for restricting a speed limit because i'm pretty sure it would be dangerous to allow people to accelerate to unnecessary speeds in America. Well you know,? the view of a specific country (in this case Germany) is different for every nationality. For example in this case, the English apparantly see the Germans as complainers or something like that and mostly make (judging on just one joke, forgive me if I'm wrong) jokes about that. I'm from india & compared to Indian dorms, this is great! In Germany, rooms are neater and you share with less people. I loved? this! However, at same time, education was worse in Germany, I thought. People were less motivated and dedicated less time to education. Teachers taught less, and school was a lot shorter. Education was viewed as a burden to them. The topics also didn't go as in-depth. Good thing about it, however, is lot less competition compared to India. Overall, I love Germany.

The real matter behind this subject is having to share a room with multiple people in college dorm rooms. This does not happen in Europe in general, most of the time you never share your room at home so why would you all of a sudden when you go to college. All in all I believe European students are more mature than American students, they tend? to be more independent as well

Hey TYT, German dorms are different - you may find whatever you're looking for, but normally you get at least a private room anyway. I have 14qm room but my own shower? and kitchen for 230? (incl high-speed internet, water, electricity, ..). Privacy is more important to me then space so I came here. You may also find private quorters with multiple students living there, but you're very unlikely to find one where they are sharing a room. Greetz from Germany

Her German dorm? is almost the same as my college dorm in SUNY Stony Brook in New York. My dorm didn't have a balcony, my floor was carpeted, there four rooms in total - two single rooms, two rooms that had 2 occupants; and two bathrooms that were each bigger than the one she showed on video; the kitchen and living room set up was the same as the german dorm so overall my college dorm was actually awesome but I have to admit it was more expensive.

I have a fascination with WW2 /Nazi Germany so those were really the only type of questions that came to mind first but, I enjoyed the other questions/answer and learned a lot new things.
