lol, well...I used to be a biiiig In Flames fan (it was my favorite band for a loooong time), but Dark Tranquillity > In Flames. In Flames just changed their sound waaaaaaaaaaay too much and nothing's left of "melodeath" in In Flames nowadays. I'd say the best Melodeath would be DT - The Gallery, IF - The Jester Race, At The Gates - Slaughter of The Soul, Arch Enemy - ..well, can't even choose one of their? albums

At the Gates may be pioneers of the melodeath sounds, but they suck/are not even listenable, Dark Tranquility have their moments of greatness, like in this album, but over time tend to get a little over-repetitive and kinda' boring...but the greatest melodeath group of them all are? the mighty IN FLAMES!!! (with children of bodom, kalmah, arch enemy, scar symmetry, ensiferum, insomnium and a few others following from a close distance...)

Well it's not pure melodic death metal. More like just swedish death metal which had other influences rather than american death. So the sound is diffrent. It's kinda lighter and more melodic but...? not really a melodeath like isomnium for example.

Once Dud starts cracking, Pete shows no mercy! When ever a clip is shown of this sketch, they never use the ad-lib over the sandwich. Ironically it's the best bit eventhough it wasn't scripted. Love the way Dud cracks up again as Pete exclaims "Dirty Cow!" Very close to the knuckle at the time and Pete knows it!? Dud was putty in his hands and for all the rows, there was always a strong underlying affection between both men. May their memory live on!

Geniuses at work! The ad libs are always great with those two: "Did you spit sandwhich? at him too?" LMAO! These guys and The Goons were the high tide of British humour -- and that pretty well qualifies them as the high tide of ALL humour, in my opinion. The bit about coal miners and judges from "Beyond the Fringe" still makes me scream with laughter after all these decades. Laughter truly is the best medicine.

Wonderful. I understand that Bob Morgan wrote this piece in response to a personal bereavement. It's such a moving and joyous melody, and has a real hypnotic quality. It also makes a great soundtrack in which to remember the great Tony Hart by. Tony was such a gentleman? who created so much wonderful art in so many different and imaginitive ways, and his influence is still with people born in the sixties and seventies. RIP Tony.

God - the sheer POWER of music to capture vivid (childhood) memories! 1981 is indeed the year, ah1701 - it's logged in my brain as the year I got my first cine camera & I had a go at animating my own plasticine Morph (have a look at the short film on my channel, made a couple of yrs ago) & ActionMen, & I remember this music being part of the soundtrack to my life at that time! Thanks for the inspiration, Tony. You're a true legend & awesome? talent!! Kids' TV isn't the same nowadays :-( R.I.P.
