nah just get a driver and a putter to start. Find a open field (baseball field works great) and practice throwing your driver till you start to get the hang of throwing it smoothly. Best thing to do is look up some how to vids on youtube so you can see how you move your body when you throw and helpful tips like how to hold the discs in your hands ( like the power grip for drives ). As? for putting just do a 15 min warm up at one of the baskets on your course before you start playing. Cheers!

I am a fit 18 year old male and this is probably one of my favorite sports and I do everything. I play in Michigan started 4 years ago. It is very easy to pick up and can? be played anywhere. It is loads of fun and highly recommend it for any shape or size. My girlfriend plays it(not the best) and still loves it. Never heard a bad thing about it.

I love this sport. I've been playing for several years, and? it only gets better and more fun the more you learn. Also, I've never encountered a rude disc golf player. I play on a busy course in South Florida (Trade Winds). Everyone that plays there is awesome. I also used to play in Virginia and had the same experience. I'm about to buy a portable basket so I can set up anywhere. I seriously love this sport.

yes it is called frisbee golf. there were alot of frisbee golf courses back in the 70's when it was popular. there was one in la mirada ca. when we were kids we used to play there all the time. we'd bring a big bag of buds and our frisbee's and play all day. i didn't know they had any frisbee golf courses left. i haven't seen anybody play? frisbee in years.. kids are lazy today.

These are not anhyzer or hyzer. These are hyzer flips. They are aiming way out the left and releasing the discs either? flat for the real stable ones or tipped down as much as 45 degrees for the less stables. The discs come out so fast that the understables "flip" up and ride flat with so much speed and spin that they become temporarily understable at those high speeds and turn right.

some are anny's some hyzers. because it's hard to see the angle of the disc on release the best way to tell is by looking at the plane? of the shoulders on release and the follow through of the arm. When throwing a hyzer the chest leans forward and the shoulders are more parallel with the ground. Upon release the arm follows through towards the sky. Anhyzers are essentially the opposite.

you can negative-fade an overstable disc even with a weak arm. Not that the power even comes from the arm. It's mostly a matter of angle of attack, the angle it's tilted up relative to the direction it's going. Every disc has a "zero fade" AOA where it will fly straight. Throw below that AOA and it will fade negative, above and it fades positive. If you release hyzer with a low AOA, it also precesses around to anhyzer quicker than hyzer with? a high AOA.

They show you what discs they are using before they throw. Robbie throws the ESP Predator. It has a stability rating of 2.5. So, very overstable. I think a couple of the other guys were throwing Surge's of some sort. They have ratings of 1.5 or 1.6 which is overstable. The Flash ESP has a rating of 1.5, overstable. FLX Avenger is 1.8, overstable. The Surge 150? is 0.5, which is barely overstable. Pulse ESP is 1.8

Keep your front shoulder down. That will keep the disc down and flat. If you're playing in tight wooded courses,? you don't want the disc raising and hitting branches. Even in an open course, elevation kills distance. Like they said in the video, smooth and clean, nice follow through will generate power.

The video and graphic of the hole doesn't do this hole justice. It's long and extremely tight and if you get off of the fairway even a couple? of feet, you're in jail. Most pros throw midrange off the tee and midrange to the basket to make sure they keep it in the fairway. Last year a kid on my card (advanced division) took a 9 there.

That certainly looks like a very forgiving course. Not much in the way of obstacles. I suppose that doesn't showcase many holes, but around here you need to deal with more trees, water, brush, and? snakes! I'm all for cleaner courses, but as long as they are free to walk on, I won't be expecting to throw on any soccer fields like the ones in this video.

I got my first ace with a Roc. I? was curious like you. Every time I use the Roc I am amazed of it's potential. Make sure it's beat up a little and if you have trouble throwing it, throw it with the nose down some like your throwing a hyzer. It should plane out and soar like a good disc should.

Most likely you are not stretching properly before you start throwing and / or you? are throwing too hard. I learned that even if I take 20% off from full power it won't affect the distance. Your throwing technique might also be "wrong" in a sense it causes too much stress to your arm.

Keep your wrist pointed up on the follow through. pull your fingers through the shot, a forehand is more in the fingers and less in the arm. if your throws are turning over, you are turning your wrist over too much on hard throws without relative strength wrist snap at the end. a disc golf won't turn as hard as an ultimate disc, if it does just get an ape or a boss.? good luck turning those over.

Well, in Ultimate, it's more beneficial to have your left foot as a pivot, to reach out farther as a righty. But for the pull, it doesn't matter. I throw right handed, leading with left in both ultimate and disc golf. ultimate, i throw a forehand pull ~100 yards and disc golf around 500 feet. My throw is like swinging a bat? as hard as i can with a wind up and an uppercut. just put a disc in your hand with a hard snap at the end.

Some good tips, I am working on my throw but I have only been playing for a month or so now! I get a nice 200-250 on? my throws but they are all hyzer I have a hard time getting a straight throw but thanks to this video I think I can work it out soon enough. I watched this video today and then went out back with my basket and started putting this program to the test. Wow just in half an hour my shooting percentage skyrocketed. Yea they were just short 10 - 15 foot? putts, but I also tried some much longer ones after awhile. Even my longer putts flew much straighter and I could nick the basket from over 50 feet out more often than not. I can see big results coming from sticking with this program. Mark Ellis and Discraft videos are a gift to us golfers trying to improve our games. Just started? this 30 day program and am on day 5. Lucky to have a portable basket in my house and so far so good from five paces (approx 11.5 ft) making on average 84 out of 85 putts each 15 mins. Will extend distance to 6 paces today and will stay at this distance until I can average 95%. My goal is to continue program until I can improve to 85% at 10 paces - hopefully by day 30 or 40. Short version: Choose a new putter and get 2 of them. This is to put bad feelings associated with your old putter to rest. Everyday for 30 days go to your local course? and putt for 30 minutes. Do it in 2 15 minute sessions so you can maintain concentration. Throw both discs. The second throw allows readjustment. Throw putts you can make, gradually changing your distance. Before each putt, recite a mantra in your head. "I can make this putt!" or whatever. Stay positive. Don't skip days.

I'm with ya. I carry a 175 Echo Star, 169 Star, 162 Star and a 171 Pro. ? I can do just about everything with those four discs. I'm mainly a sidearm thrower, but have really been starting to work my backhand. Have a 167 Star Boss that I love. To sum it up though, Wraith is the best driver Innova makes!

the roc is the best disc i've thrown. the plastic, wear, and weight makes each unique and all useful. if you like the feel of a? certain disc stick to it and get some variations of it. the familiar feel will help as each will have different flight characteristics.

I read some of these comments and I'm confused by the hating on certain discs for certain shots. If someone makes it work and bangs the chains, why would? you care what they used? In fact, most people don't putt with their drivers so why would you hate on someone for throwing a disc at a shorter distance than it was designed to be thrown? Hating on a Destroyer ace at 186' just seems like backward logic to me. You should be more impressed, not less.

I wouldn't say a hyzer is a fav of beginners. I would say beginners accidentally throw a hyzer because they think? of it too much like a frisbee not a disc. In doing so they must play off that hyzer and correct their shots to get it to go where they want(though that's more of just starting out beginner).

The direction it fades is mearly based on which direction the disc is spinning. Looking from above the disc, a? clockwise spin with fade left, counter-clockwise fades right. Also going with this analogy, the snap(rotation rate) is the fuel(Engines). If you have more fuel then airtime that is when a disc lands on the turn(because of pilot). The only straight pilots are discs that are rated 0 turn 0 Fade.

Another way to look at it is as if the disc was and airplane or jet. The center of the disc being the center of the plane. Tilt a wing down it will fly left, tilt it right fly right, nose angle up and down will change the altitude. Stable is like it has a pilot that has heavy left hand(RHBH-LHforehand). Understable is opossite as the pilot has a heavy right hand making the? disc/plane turn right. Fade is what happens when the engines run of fuel, the plane start to fall.

Every player rotates discs at different speeds. This causes a lot different opinions on what discs do. Also as you get better your revolutions per second increase, thus changing what your discs used to do for you. ? A stable disc often labeled 0 turn by innova and other manufacturers will want to get down to the ground, thus for a righthanded backhand thrower that means it will fly left given that you don't throw with an angle above your head.

Because the video is spoken, it it easier to understand and this was helpful. I am at the point of playing where I am finally ready to know how my discs work. Honestly,? when Dave Feldberg says in his DVD that "stable discs want to fall to the ground," I don't know what to make of that. I need more explanation because I have limited knowledge.

The Pro Pig (not R-Pro) has been discontinued by Innova and will no longer be produced in Pro plastic. R-Pro, however, will remain. This is an amazing disc in Pro plastic (much more tacky in R-Pro) and in its lighter weights it floats in water! I love the pig secondly because of the huge rim on the bottom giving you? the ability to comfortably forehand throw it. Get yourself a Pro Pig before they are gone folks! They're worth it!
