Very nice video! "Junction" in America is where? one route joins another, not really an "intersection", an intersection is usually when one road or more crosses another at about 90 degree angles or with two roads crossing, the angles can be any angles. Roudabouts are "Rotaries" or traffic circles. in the US. Jellies, Jams, different recipes for the same substance. Jelly is also Gelatin here in the US. A torch in the US has fire involved as a light device. Nice job!

I'm an American ESL Teacher who sometimes uses Mr. Duncan's lessons in my Speaking and Listening classes. I could/would not use this one though because of how the word Gay is presented. We've made an effort to teach our young people not to use that word to demean or ridicule others by using it in such a negative way. It's not acceptable in the U.S. anymore because it's offensive to many people. It's too bad? since the rest of the video is good.

There are many differect accents in England, first there is low-class accent(like Dell Boy), they use alot of words like "you soppy, sod, flogging, nickt, laga...), then there is middle-class English, which sound most close to American, then there are 5 levels of HIGH Class accents, and only handfull of people can naturally speak class 5 english, and those are Royal families, Noobles, Dukes... erm, British people live in N.Ireland. Northern Ireland citizens can claim either Irish nationality or British such as when applying for a passport plus British and Irish culture is closely linked more than ever. Also English slang doesn't constitute British, in order for that you would have to? include Scottish and Welsh, some would argue even N.Ireland also and the Republic (we all speak native English so it would make sense to cover it)

Fair enough. Thanks for pointing that out. It's true that many of these expressions are used primarily in the south of England, where I'm from. Not being understood in the north of England when using these expressions is a possibility. You will however hear them in the south, but perhaps not when somebody is speaking to you as a non-native speaker, as they'll obviously assume that you wouldn't understand it. Thus, you would be more likely? to hear it used in the pub.

I'm a British teen and iv'e never heard of banged up it's usually "locked up." Piss-up ive never heard of either. It would be more like "after the exam's we're off to get pissed." Bollocks can also be used as an exclamation of frustration like "oh bollocks i forgot my bag.". A lot of these people only use in the south of England, not the whole of the uk. I doubt you will here a lot of these when you visit the uk... cant be? arsed is used a lot though.

No, the expressions I teach wouldn't be classified as "street slang", because they would be understood by almost everyone in the UK and in most parts of the UK, with the exception of perhaps much older people. I? don't see much point in teaching rare street expressions on here. I want to teach things that you will hear and be able to use.
