The reason why customization would be out of place is because of the story, you aren't a driver/racer like in NFSU/U2 trying to win rep and money, you're a cop doing missions, helping people by shifting into their car. Sure TANNER's car could be customized since it's his car, but still. It isn't the point of this game. Maybe people who were the other Driver games are disappointed by comparing this game to the others. But for me who hasn't played the old games, it's still? a solid game.

I have to disagree with most of you. I JUST finished watching it and it was? awful. I always heard it was? one of the greatest films in American cinema. Instead the dialogue was stilted and awkward. The plot dragged interminably. The acting was mostly terrible, which was very disappointing since the cast is very good. It was an immense letdown and I wouldn't advise it to anyone. The ending was the only good part and I had to sit through an hour and a half of boring crap to get to it. Boo!

Hollywood would probably hire Michael Bay, the guy? who makes those hideous Transformer flicks to direct Taxi Driver, if they made it today. And they'd hire Justin Timberlake to play Travis, to appeal to the young demographic. Very important. And they'd change the dynamic between Travis and Betsy. Agree about the trailers these days. Damn near all of em build up to a frenzy of activity, and then it goes silent, and a character whispers? something ominous. The mid-70s had flops, yeah, but that was a great era, 75-76. Major studios were doing interesting flicks. Would a major studio do Taxi Driver today? Yeah, sure, if it was dramatically changed. If they could have Travis rescue Iris in typical, action flick fashion, and cut out all the awkward, uncomfortable bits, yeah.

Only issue I have with this game so far is the user interface. It needs to be less intrusive and coerce immersion into the world. I certainly hope there's at least a way to turn off button prompts and decrease the size of the graphics over your HUD. It's just too busy for my tastes: As a player I want to be focused on the street and what's going on around the car, and maybe the objective all that other crap is unnecessary. If I wanted to? see all that technical mumbo-jumbo, I'd look in the car.

Hehe, it reminds me of that Vin Diesel game where he'd lunge at the other car and beat the crap out of the other driver, but the feature was called "air jacking" or something. You can't tell me that you won't play a game simply for that feature though--simply don't use it. It allows for the player to drive all sorts of different vehicles? rather than being tied to one per mission though. I mean, at least it's restricted to Tanner's vicinity so there's still the challenge of evading cop

Yes it's all about driving, but? the previous driver games had a way different feel to them. This just feels like a NFS/Burnout ripoff. And the new feature that allows you to jump from car to car, really? where did that come from? I'm just not buying it, maybe a demo will change my mind, but I just don't see it.
