You'll find that the Dixie Chicks never offered the Red Cross a donation of any size, despite their claim that they tried and the donation was refused. Why would they tell such a lie? Because the Prez is always honorary chairman (though he has no control, influence, or power over the organization at all). The DC's were trying to imply GW was preventing them from donating to a charity. The effort failed miserably.
