On an average 18 hole course you walk about three miles through woods and up hills and it gets you in shape. These are not anhyzer or hyzer. These are hyzer flips. They are aiming way out the left and releasing the discs either flat for the real stable ones or tipped down as much as 45 degrees for the less stables. The discs come? out so fast that the understables "flip" up and ride flat with so much speed and spin that they become temporarily understable at those high speeds and turn right.

some are anny's some hyzers. because it's hard to see the angle of the disc on release the best way to tell is by looking at the plane of the shoulders on release and the follow through of the arm. When throwing a hyzer the chest leans forward and the shoulders are more parallel with the ground. Upon release the arm follows? through towards the sky. Anhyzers are essentially the opposite.

you can negative-fade an overstable disc even with a weak arm. Not that the power even comes from the arm. It's mostly a matter of angle of attack, the angle it's tilted? up relative to the direction it's going. Every disc has a "zero fade" AOA where it will fly straight. Throw below that AOA and it will fade negative, above and it fades positive. If you release hyzer with a low AOA, it also precesses around to anhyzer quicker than hyzer with a high AOA.

isn't anhyzer when? the face of the disc is toward you when the disc leaves the hands? when they throw they have the outside edge pointed down. i thought the disc was turning right because of the stability of the disc. Even when you throw an overstable disc you can get it to turn right if you have a fast enough arm like these guys

They show you what discs they are using before they throw. Robbie throws the? ESP Predator. It has a stability rating of 2.5. So, very overstable. I think a couple of the other guys were throwing Surge's of some sort. They have ratings of 1.5 or 1.6 which is overstable. The Flash ESP has a rating of 1.5, overstable. FLX Avenger is 1.8, overstable. The Surge 150 is 0.5, which is barely overstable. Pulse ESP is 1.8

Keep your front shoulder down. That will keep the disc down and flat. If you're playing in tight wooded courses, you don't want the? disc raising and hitting branches. Even in an open course, elevation kills distance. Like they said in the video, smooth and clean, nice follow through will generate power.

I played dg for awhile and range around 325-350 ft with discs 172g-176g, great accuracy, but seem like i can't push it past 350, i'd like to be able to make birdies at holers at 400-450 ft from tee off.. I tried your way and it seem to pull my throws back to 200-225 ft (not saying that your mechanics is? bad, everyone has different mechanics) But HOW can i increase another hundred or more on my throws with my mechanics? *I feel the snap and the accuracy is good but distance?* Let me know thanks!

I know this video has slowed down a bit, but its still great for newer players. One question, though: how much distance should you lose with each step? For example, if you through 400' with reach-back and an x-step, what should you throw from the pec with an x-step? how about with no step? this video makes way more sense when taken along with other explanations of the? "hit." it's really a great practice tool to help your muscle memory the way he shows the progression- working backwards from the release. I used this technique today for the first time (I've played for 2.5 years) and added significant distance to my drives- on one hole I threw past the basket- which I've never done (uphill over 330ish). I'm definitely going to throw multiple practice shots like this every day unt

Don't know about those particular discs, not going to pretend that they're good or bad for a beginner because honestly I've never used them. When I started out though I really liked the Innova champion Roadrunner. Not the furthest driving disc but it? has excellent control, after a while you'll throw some gorgeous looking S curves. Highly recommend it for a beginner.

A star or pro wraith is a great driver with stability inbetween the valkyrie and the boss, not as many people throw the boss for maximum distance because it has such high stability and requires alot of power, if the wraith isn't enough to contain your arm, try a? destroyer!

you're absolutely? right man.. I think you should get a decent drive down either way asap.. but 1. snap is everything. I do one step drives (I throw forehand) and with a disc that has a long fade or late fade I just lay it flat, snap the hell out of it and watch it fly. 2. putting IS the most important.. long putts and lay ups. You can drive to 30 feet away every hole but if youre missing your deuces, whats the point?

Its all about snap...I've seen guys in the park that this video was made park it at almost 500 ft with a one step drive that was all snap...If you can keep it smooth and master the "hit" then you'll be able to throw far...But I recommend getting to a point where 30-45 putts are damn near automatic,? before you really concentrate on driving.

its not about the arm as you may think. you arm should be doing what your hips are telling it to do. and u really need a great follow through. Maybe u might wanna watch the newest discraft clinic video. its bout getting more distance, then if u add the arm into a throw using a ton of your legs, then? imagine ur 425 maybe you'll be getting 500. but remember smooth is far. dont need to add shit that causes drag

if the wind is coming up behind you it will make the disc go higher and farther, if it is coming toward you it will drive the disc up and back down like throwing it too high, and if its coming from side to side it will make the disc more likely to flex, turn over, or wobble out depending on? the throw. you just have to look up how to combat this, its too much to type

Yea, pull out the Force! Use a very overstable disc when throwing into headwinds, or even crosswinds. Headwinds push your disc up then down often. Throw the disc low. You can put anhyzer on it but be sure it will come back!! If the wind is at your back, wind can push the disc it up, and you can achieve more glide, it might not flex out untill it's to late too. It's best to use the driver your the most? comfortable with, and put extra hyzer on it, maybe more height if your in a field.

I agree the part about keeping the fingers right alongside the rim is somewhat bs it might create some drag but? probably not that much. The part that is real bs is the fact that Matt states his avg drive is 350 and when he does a couple drives then the instructor goes "that's 75ft you gained buddy you gained", even though he drove like 310, and maybe a 330 after that. That's a loss of several ft, not a gain.

from 2:40 to 3:40 is complete bs... I throw with that grip and like that sometimes depending on the shot and I can throw a 500ft hyzer on command. Coda hatfield throws like that and thats who I got it from. Coda can throw 650+? so i disagree

da324 i know what you mean about the old frisbee grip. I started out using it when i started, its fine for putting. But for tee shots it's tough to get a good grip because you have too throw? SOOO much harder than the old frisbees. I actually learned to use a forehand flip throw for distance. granted it's not as far as these guys but i can throw alot farther (and easier) with the forehand grip. frisbees and golf discs throw ALOT different.

For average players the nuke? is designed to cut back to the left like most discs (with the exception of the Avenger SS or Buzzz SS). Keep throwing it until you learn the flight pattern. You may even want to try to release it with a slight anhyzer. But he said in the video that he releases it on a hyzer so you may want to try that.

I ware a Townsend metal brace on my right knee. I have poor range of motion in my hips due to steal rods in my lower spine. Along with a metal plate in my neck that stops some ROM. I am a right hand back hand, and forehand thrower. With the forehand I can do a run up during T off. with the back hand I can not do the cross? step as my leg will not cross due to the rom in my hips. I still throw 100 to 150 feet with the back hand, and about 200 to 250 feet forehand.

My brother tore his acl from the bone. He couldnt play for almost 3/4 of a year. If your knee is bad i would recomend getting a metal knee brace that is comfortable and allows you to turn just a little bit. He can throw his nuke about 400 feet and thats with a horrible? knee and slow runup

230ft? are you serious? stop using all those drivers and start with a midrange or putter. Most disc golfers with average abalities can throw a midrange at least close to 300ft and you would probably be getting more distance and developing better form instead of compensating for those fast overstable drivers before you have the arm for them. It'll come eventually just don't jump ahead too much and? ruine your form.

McCabe is great, but the video was pretty much useless. Skip the ''ultra cool'' graphics? and get to some analysis. How about some grip advice and some slo-mo action. I appreciate what you're trying to do, but quit trying to be so cool and hip and focus on the details. ie...show his whole flight and give the distances and show it in multiple angles.

Most likely you are not stretching properly before you start throwing and / or you are throwing? too hard. I learned that even if I take 20% off from full power it won't affect the distance. Your throwing technique might also be "wrong" in a sense it causes too much stress to your arm.

Keep your wrist pointed up on the follow through. pull your fingers through the shot, a forehand is more in the fingers and less in? the arm. if your throws are turning over, you are turning your wrist over too much on hard throws without relative strength wrist snap at the end. a disc golf won't turn as hard as an ultimate disc, if it does just get an ape or a boss. good luck turning those over.

Well, in Ultimate, it's more beneficial to have your left foot as a pivot, to reach out farther as a righty. But for the pull, it doesn't matter. I throw right handed, leading with left in both ultimate and disc golf. ultimate, i throw a forehand pull ~100? yards and disc golf around 500 feet. My throw is like swinging a bat as hard as i can with a wind up and an uppercut. just put a disc in your hand with a hard snap at the end.

Hey, Thanks for the comment. I actually was told alittle after this video was made to use the balls of my feet to? get better distance and it totally worked! since then my drive has improved highly! i have been playing almost on a daily bases and my drive is reaching close to 500Ft! my top drive was about 480! thanks for the comment again!

nice form BUT you could get a TON more distance if... when you follow through you need to spin on the balls of your right foot. work on transferring your weight from your left leg to your right leg (again spinning on the? ball of your right foot) - your left foot should finish in front of your right foot (at about a 45 degree angle - not behind it. Good luck and keep on hucking broski!

You're using a? lot of arm,you really should just consider your arm as a lever,or a whip would be a better example,you need to use your torso,hips and legs to turn that whip around your body,because by using your body,you can create more arm speed than you could ever do with just your arm,try to stay relaxed and keep your arm loose,and accelerate thru the shot.

just watch dave feldberg with his special "hop-step". I think that one could help you, because you only make a few steps. and also watch his LEFT hand. He swings it more or less the same as the right hand,? which gives you the possibility to turn your upper body more and reach bach more. Cheers

Thanks for the advice!. I wish I had another angle so you could see both my form and my consistency. I have been working on that for awhile and the pointers you? gave me are probably only going to help me even more! :) Overall as far as consistency almost all my discs landed in the same spot about 240 ft out pretty close to the pin, throwing midrange and fairway. I have been trying to figure out a way to get a lot more distance and the speed might be able to help me a lot more! :)

Hey. 1st it would be great if there was a? slow motion :) 2nd what catches my mind is that you accelerate but then slow down at the end. When releasing the disc, your speed is not at tops. Its about top when rise the last step. thats one thing that you could consider. And i think you could turn your back a bit more to the front, so you can reach back more. Im not a pro, but comparing your drives to the pros, these few things chatch my eye.

nah just get a driver and a putter to start. Find a open field (baseball field works great) and practice throwing your driver till you start to get the hang of throwing it smoothly. Best thing to? do is look up some how to vids on youtube so you can see how you move your body when you throw and helpful tips like how to hold the discs in your hands ( like the power grip for drives ). As for putting just do a 15 min warm up at one of the baskets on your course before you start playing. Cheers!

I am a fit 18 year old male and this is probably one of my favorite sports and I do everything. I play in Michigan started 4 years? ago. It is very easy to pick up and can be played anywhere. It is loads of fun and highly recommend it for any shape or size. My girlfriend plays it(not the best) and still loves it. Never heard a bad thing about it.

I love this sport. I've been playing for several years, and it only gets better and more fun the more you learn. Also, I've never encountered a rude disc golf player. I? play on a busy course in South Florida (Trade Winds). Everyone that plays there is awesome. I also used to play in Virginia and had the same experience. I'm about to buy a portable basket so I can set up anywhere. I seriously love this sport.

Like the other guy said, try a fan grip for the midrange move your thumb to a position where it connects with your pointer finger, check out the feldberg video on that. Or check out my video on launching midranges, longest drive i have on tape for midranges is about 330-350 somewhere in that range. Soon i'll post more where I show grip and technique and not? just silent throwing. Let me know what you think. Nice form dude!
