Well how about we talk S&P 500. For 2010 (most recent year available on their reports), the S&P 500 paid more in taxes for foreign countries than to the U.S. despite having greater sales in the U.S. ? We have a Thinkprogress reader here! What was the catch to that story that you left out? Something kinda? critical...... think about it. Read it again. Thats right: it was a result of bi-partisan tax relief to help "stimulate the economy." A major part of that is the bonus deduction that was a one-year-only deduction for business investments. Another reason is this metric is a percentage of profits and corporations are, wisely, holding on to their cash (thus it isn't taxed). School is out.

The $160 Billion is their income based on their financial statements. Deductions for tax purposes are much different than deductions for financial statements. Special depreciation rules will allow corporations to take a deduction for 100% of the cost of all fixed assets in tax year 2011. While for financial statement purposes they may have to be deducted over a 15 year life of the asset. This was done to? provide an incentive for companies to grow and buy goods.

What he is leaving out is a large amount of American businesses are incorporated as a Sub-chapter S Corporations. This is the same man who's said his secretary? pays more tax than he does as a percentage, and that he wouldn't have any problem paying a higher tax rate. We tax capital gains, which make up the majority of Buffet's income, at a much lower rate than income, though, which is a problem. The current system is set up to favor the rich and powerful by gifting them loopholes out of paying their fair share, or creating completely separate playing fields for them and nobody else.

the math is messed up here @ 2:50... the 64% that went to the govt includes money that the govt took at the corporate level, that money was destined to be split 60/40 to the company, so it cannot be compared directly at 1/1 with the money that shareholders receive. of the 40% that shareholders receive, it gets taxed 35% and then 15% so: .35 + (1 - .35)*.15 = .4475 or 44.75%? of the shareholders money, which is still alot, but not as high a percentage as he said

If I had a corporation earning a billion dollars in profits and a 60/40 payout ratio where 40% is for the shareholders, I am getting 350 million at the corporate level then 39 million at the shareholder level.? I AGREE - with a STIPULATION - the profit made by a corporation can go straight into a Company Account - NOT to bonuses OR reinvestment. There would have to be an additional law along with less coporate tax - A percentage of any profit MUST be reinvested. How? about 10% less coporate tax = 9% reinvested. I wish I was nearer 50, since I`m 60! In California, about 38% of the State is Hispanic, the vast majority of them are of Mexican descent. However, their are cities where? the % is far higher. The demographics of my particular city is over 52% Hispanic, and we have many businesses that specialize in non English speaking Mexicans, supermarkets that carry many imported Mexican products like candies, cookies, cake treats, all kinds of Mex canned goods, Mexican soda pop, etc

this guy is an idiot. 1: More people are hired by corporations that actually sell a good or make money. 2:under employment at the time of this writing is 18%. tell them "sorry, dont put food on the table or have a payroll to even SUPPORT that education system". 3:who do you think pays for those? government jobs? I'm for the GOP. Give millionaires back exactly what they paid - with reasonable interest and not? one cent more when it comes to Social Security, Medicare, VA, any government assistance. I watched a lady that inherited $2 million during her last 6 months of cancer. Medicare paid all her medical bills and she drew a SS check off her husband. She never worked or paid into the system. She died with $2 million dollars in the bank and with America in more debt than any time in history.

I remember very well the Bush (illegal immigrant) undocumented laborers job growth.., Of course the have and the have-nots remember the Bush "1st? time home buyers" initiative and to this day people debate whether it was sub-prime loans or predatory lending, great taste or less filling... Well it is growing but these things take time meanwhile ours is stagnating or falling. Also look at how people are paying for college. they take out loans and they do not even ask what they are majoring in. These loans are subsidized by the government and the banks do not care who they lend it out too. In a free market without this they would have higher interest rates for majors that do not offer any jobs because they know that they will not be? able to pay them back.
