Yes but that seems to be the case on all ships that are popular. No matter how much deck space there is, there are never a place to? sit unless you get up at the crack of dawn an run up to the deck and put a towel on a chair to reserve it, because if you don't someone else will and you end up walking around and waiting.

I'm just curious, have you ever been on a Carnival cruise? Or are you some stuck up Royal Carribean "groupie". They're not expensive and there is ALWAYS something to do. I go on cruises to go to the destinations, therefore the onboard stuff is not what I look forward to but I can say reading the daily capers that there is some interesting & fun stuff available. You, however, would rather pay for the trip, the food, and all the extra things you probably dont use. I? LOVE CARNIVAL

If you look at 0.42 and see the smoke coming out of one of smoke stacks, is clearly much darker than what is coming out of the other stack. Take a look at my video (attached above) from 0.43 to .050. My video was taken 4 weeks before the fire. The smoke coming out of that same smoke stack is darker than the other. I noticed this throughout my cruise, but didn't think anything of it. ? Maybe the problem was not a sudden malfunction, but something that took some time to manifest.

@agenthelios1 to answer your first question: Any vacation is what you make of it. I find that fun people will always find ways of enjoying themselves regardless of where they are. As for what you can do to have fun, well I like to party with friends (assuming you have some); zip-lining is fun in Puerto Vallarta; but the rest of us would probably enjoy it much more if you went TOTALY ExTrEmE and simply jumped overboard... BTW How Do You Say "Pompous? @hole overboard" in German?

I am from an US army family. This triggered a safety drill and a ship room to room search. Where about someone could stow away on a cruise ship and leave the country. Its just a feeling. I have been on a party air bus (airplane) which was booked for $250,000 with people older than me. The cost was just the flight alone but It was an awesome party. It flew from 5PM -1PM over the Mojave Desert and back to San? Francisco. We watched the sunset that evening and then sunrise the next day . We all were drunk and crashed on the seat. It leaned back a full 150 degrees, just right for an excellent sleep. There were also cabins. We landed 12 noon the next day.

Oh, I had the cruise on this ship "Ecstacy" 1996-7 long time ago. We had a new year party, a lot of people made merry with champagne and Auld Lang Syne on the deck! At that time, I couldnt speak? English at all, and Japanese passenger are only us. But my family and I had a great time!! Everybody was so nice people! Thank you! My son was 7, but now he is 20 yrs old. My sweet memory... I was on that boat when it happened. It was scary. I was near the stairs about to go back to my room because I started feeling sick. And that whole week I? had felt sick. It was weird. So I was about to step down the stairs when the boat started to tip. When it was all over I saw a little girl in her dad's arm crying and napkins around her legs. It was like a nightmare. But I would go back on a cruise again. It was fun and the views and crew where great.

I'm almost afraid to sail on the Carnival Ecstasy because this isn't the first time this ship has made headlines. Anybody remember the fire off the coast of Miami? I remember the breaking news ticking coming on to NBC and showing helicopter images over top of the Ecstasy with flames shooting out the back! ? Don't get me wrong, I love Carnival and have sailed the fun ships many times but perhaps this is karma telling them that they shouldn't have named a ship "Ecstasy"...lol

dancinmike2004- did you notice the news was saying they report only listing 12 degrees !?!? I think youre closer to correct- 30-35 degrees. I heard the captain say "due to a malfunction with the gyroscope" and I saw those 2 blips on the in-room information channel... I dont agree with the crew being organized though. They cleaned up things quickly, but? did NOTHING to assist or coordinate during the panic mode.

I was also on the cruise. The ship listed about 30 degrees. There was some chaos but within 25? minutes you could not tell anything happened. The crew was fantastic and organized. The bouy story is crap though. The ship did a 90 degree turn to avoid the Island (sand bar) The bouy was there to warn ships. Someone in the bridge messed up bad.

I was on this cruise also. At the time of the buoy encounter, I was eating lunch by the pool. We commented on the list of the ship being more than usual, then the pool water started pouring toward us. No warning to brace ourselves from the crew, everything was completely unexpected. Tables came unbolted from the deck as the water swept us into them. I was lucky to have? only injured a toe. It doesn't really add up~ ships go over buoys all the time.

that was my first and last cruise i was on the belcony above pool while watching the water come out of the pool and the lounge chairs and ppl sliding in with the water it was a very scary situation at the time then chairs and tables were hitting ppl while they sat eating after a few minutes the boat started to go back and the water also had to go back lots of dishes and damage never been so scared and they wouldnt even replace drinks that were lost during the destruction very? stressed

Wow! Royal Caribbean also has a mall? with extra fee stores and restaurants! Ice-skating, from what I've heard its barely used. Who actually still in-line skates? Almost nobody. Golf simulators, CCL has them. Rock walls, somewhat boring. CCL has some of the some of the largest water slides at sea, rope climbing obstacle courses, a 4D movie theater, and the best of all....some of the largest standard staterooms at sea, easily beating out Royal Caribbean.

Hmm. Funny. Remember Hurricane Irene? Both the Carnival Victory and Serenade of? the Seas were forced to leave San Juan, which was the departure port, earlier than they were supposed to depart. Carnival sent representatives to San Juan to let the passengers know, they also put them up in hotels for free, and arranged flights either to the ship or back home for free. Plus for the people who went home, they recieved a future discount. Royal Caribbean, nobody showed up, nothing, passengers stranded.

lemonade,ice tea....in RCCL in the Windjammer it is a MUST once the guest seats he has to be offered something,,in RCCL you have International guest each cruise..Switzerland,Germany,Sweden,Denmark,England flying all the way from Europe to USA to board the ship....They drink wine,they dont eat like no tomorow and the overall the guest on RCCL are 2 class above Carnival guests. Carnival is not a vacation for me,,,its just a place to get drunk & make a fool of yourself.?

Well lell me tell you something folks...I've been a Waiter in CCL for 7 years and am a Waiter in RCCL for 3 years(still active)...I'm neutral so i could not care less who is better? and i'm not here to comercialize any of them.But from my working experience for both companies i can say that RCCL cares more for their guest...and thats a FACT, In Carnival its more like just to get rid of you...eat your food and go. Have you ever ever been offered something to drink on Lido deck,,like coffee,water..

i have been on both carnival and royal (carnival freedom and carnival fansty and carnival magic) and ( marnier of the seas and liberety of the seas) i like how RC has the big open plan BUT i like carnival better because the inside is much better desings its fun and instenting and cool. RC is like a piece of pizza with no sause of cheese. but i like the RC outdoor ativites. i? think carnival has a bright future even know they dont have the biggests ship but the size does not matter!!

I would have to say the scariest part was when they told us we were going to be tugged to Ensenada, Mexico and be bused across the? border..YIKES!!! Not once was was I scared on the ship!! There was no SPAM served..(maybe the crew members got spam??) My flight home from Minneapolis (the connecting flight) to Des. Moines was so much scarier than the ship!! The pilot comes on and says the weather in Des. Moines is not favorable...Not what you want to hear on a plane!CRUISE CARNIVAL

very well said!!! I agree there are people that would complain about a wonderful cruise!! Carnival did the best they could within their power!! I have never seen these ports and this was my 9th cruise..that was a bummer but I will eventually make it back to do the Mexican Riviera cruise! On the bright side: We had a wonderful meal sunday night!! We could have ended up on life boats so this was a good turn out to something that could have been a? disaster!!

Alpha Team did a really? good job on the Splendor and so did the rest of the crew, all those early morning drills paid up. I'm sure half of those guests will not cruise with Carnival again, people get pissed of and demand outrageous things even when a ship misses a port of call because of a hurricane or something so I can only imagine what's gonna happen now.Anyway good job Carnival crew for keeping they situation under control, shit happens planes crash cars crash ...... u get the ideeea

throwing anything overboard is a federal offense, never mind jumping.? i would not be surprised is the fbi picked him up at the first port. also the ship would quarantine him for the duration of the cruise and fine him. that one guy is costing everyone on board their vacation. they would have to wake up everyone on board and muster the entire ship to make sure no one else was overboard which can take hours depending on the size. the guy would be a shark midnight snack waiting on air support.
