yes, you should select the? modified parts on the right - go to "Copy/paste" make collection and copy and paste (to the other side). No reason to double the work. this only took 4 mouse clicks.

Biped is a system provided by 3DS Max used to make human-like (or anything that has two legs, like in the video) bones. Bones are used to animate models after some tedious process called Skinning,? where you go vertex by vertex assigning them (or their weights/influence) to each of the bones. There might be some other processes like Skinning which make life easier, but since I'm a beginner as well I can't tell. But anyway, Biped is that.

I think they mean how to use this biped system without the biped itself being? visible. In that case, you would have to select the biped>right click>hide selection

The reason the biped moves without the mesh is cause you still have Figure Mode turned on. Once you take that off it should move the mesh with it. Hope that helps you all!?

This is taking hours! I think? it is because the model is not in a T-pose and it is far more difficult to assign the envelopesto the different parts. The character I am trying to place these into is Nick Scryer from PSi Ops, the only problem is he has a difficult pose (he is bending one knee and keeping the other straight and he is also putting his hands together infront of his chest.

thanks for the help, but I already tried that, and it doesn't work, the character is still attached. The reason I want (need) to reposition the bone, is because my root bone (bip_01) somehow moved to the middle of the character, sticking out the back, which has messed up? my models positioning in UDK completely. Maybe theres a way to "un-rig" the root bone? I hear its best to leave it unrigged?

U shudnt reposition a bone after u rigged it, but if you want to then make sure? ur in figure mode, u can edit it from there. Anything outside figure mode is animated..

Hi and thanks. I can do in depth tuts for char studio but I really belive that char studio is getting old now and i tend? to use CAT for all of my stuff. If you want to do soem cloth on a T pose for example before the mocap starts, you should keyframe the biped in the T pose at the minus frame ie -50.. Hope it helps

Forgot to add, MAX isnt a magical fix it machinma style editing tool. Its a pro 3d design and animation util.. Don't mess with it if you are not willing to learn basics. If you need to learn them please visit 3d buzz or 3d palace etc. It takes time and effort to learn MAX, its not? just a quick 1 hour run through and you know all. Meanwhile, if ppl still like my tutorials, then ill make more. I can't run through every little thing in a short vid so i have to assume you know something.

If you don't then its not my tutorials you need, its a basic book on MAX first. I hate ppl posting me saying? "ok so how do i create a box ".. This is actually a lot more exciting than it looks if you know what's going on haha. Very impressive work, though I would expect nothing less from the MIT leg lab. It moves a bit slow, but I imagine that is due to power constraints and the limits of the actuators.
