the gtr is a little over rated i must say. basically it takes the fun out of driving because it really is a computer with 4 wheels. If that's the case then there should be 911s that offer 1.5L engines. And what's the use? of those rear seats? Only if you're raise an infant. I like the fact that the 911 constantly being refined but rear engine constantly throws the car outward at a corner and addressing it costs WAY too much money as the GT2 RS costs way more than the Corvette ZR1 and the Nissan GTR for about the same performance. That's where the mid-engined Cayman comes and it is possible to put turbos on it.

That means going through corners requires less braking and accelerating, thus improving lap times at a cheaper price. The man in the video made it extremely clear that the Cayman is perhaps the best car made by Porsche and that the engine is in the right place. If Porsche's engineers were geniuses like you said, they would have realized 47 years ago that the? 911's engine would forever compromise its performance. I will agree with you on the flat 6 in the Cayman. With the sport chrono pack, limited slip diff, PASM and carbon ceramic brakes, it is possibly the best sportscar on the market.

Many are dismissing the new Subaru BRZ / Scion FR-S for the same ignorant / nonsensical reason they dismiss the MX-5. They ignorant assume the cars test track #'s, HP, etc somehow determine the cars worth. Of course people who know anything? about cars realize how stupid it is to dis a car solely based on its spec sheet / test track #'s. I feel bad for those who dismiss truly awesome driver's cars like the MX-5 due to ignorance. These poor people don't understand that the #'s a car produces doesn't even begin to scratch the surface when it comes? to evaluating how good a sports car is. There's a great reason for why the MX-5 consistently slaughters the much more powerful but not as nearly as fun to drive Mustangs, 370z's, Genesis coupes and so on.

The newer 09+ NC MX-5's look great IMO and less "chick like" as some insecure people have suggested compared to the older NA, NB Miata's. The 09+? MX-5's also have some nice updates such as the slightly higher powered (166 to167 but really 170hp not that it matters much) / higher revving (7200rpm), revised suspension tuning, gear box, etc. I test drove an 11' MX-5 not long ago and damn what a fun car!

Well, seeing is believing I reckon. I'm about the same size as your friend, 6'2" and about 265 lbs, and I've driven a Miata. It was an older pop-up headlight body style, maybe the newer ones are a little roomier, but I remember my knees in the dash and my head? touching the ceiling. I drove it, so I guess you could say I fit, but I certainly wouldn't call it comfortable. Regardless, to each his own; I prefer something with a little more room, a lot more power and a V8 exhaust note.

I can honestly say that I wouldn't want something faster than a Miata for personal track use. I'd prefer to learn how to drive my Miata properly rather than drive a faster car and fool myself into thinking I am? a better driver. As far as it being a better drivers car, as a matter of opinion, I respectfully disagree. Just out of curiosity, if you? were in the position to have a separate track car for use at a place where you could drive it hard with relative safety, why wouldn't you get something a little hotter than a Miata? Or do you plan on running in a Miata class? If so, that's cool, I like tightly sanctioned classes. It makes for really competitive racing.

That's a fair point: I'll change the word "performence"? and revise my statement to say: "...more of a driver's car than any Ferrari." The 599 I drove was incredible, but the only reason I could drive it properly was b/c of that lead car and our radios. That's why I love the Miata, b/c I can drive it hard all the time without putting myself or other motorists in danger. In a few years, I plan on buying another Miata to use exclusively at the track.

I've driven a couple of them, a first gen when I was turning wrenches for a living and a girl I knew had one. Unfortunately I can't drive them comfortably, my 6'2" 265lbs frame prevents that. And they are great little cars, I had a blast with my knees against the dash. Maybe it's just the wording in your sentence, "more of a performance car". How can it be more of a performance car than, lets say the 458 Italia,? which clearly and dominantly out performs it?

Last summer, I signed up for a program called World Class Driving (google it), where I drove a Lamborghini Gallardo, SLR McLaren, 599 GTB, R8 V10 and Bentley Conti SS. I got to drive the cars hard thanks to a lead car radioing back to warn of any dangers/cops further up the road. As fast as those cars were, I had more fun driving home in my NA Miata b/c I could drive it harder more often. You should take a new one for a test drive.

a huge help is the cost of the mazda.. my 95 ran me 3k last year and is in great running shape.. add another $3k to that for? a supercharger and im in it for what we will call $7k ( other unlisted work) and at any autocross/ track event im hard pressed to find a car for the same price range that is as much fun to drive or will do as fast around the track. as in LAP TIMES not just trap speeds in one section of the track love the car to death because it handles anything you throw at it

Women love it because it is a cute, two-seater, convertible sports car but it costs very little money, and most women can't tell the difference between a Miata and an XKR convertible. A can be a sports car without being powerful for the same reason that you can play a game of baseball without being a professional athlete. Ironically, the Miata's tiny 4-pot makes it more of a performance car than any Ferrari, or indeed, your Mustang because it allows you to rev it higher and? toss it around more often. MotorTrend's written article of this review accurately described it as a 99/99 car: you can drive it at 99 percent throttle, 99 percent of the time.

Let me get this straight: you are under the impression that a car should be solely judged on its performance figures as evidence by your modified Mustang. In other words, you have so little self? confidence, that you need to make up for your insecurities by driving a "manly" muscle car, and subsequently making up for more insecurity by modifying it to be even faster. Most of the car manufacturers can develop sport/supercars. It depends on the market. Don't you think Honda can make a 500 HP+ on the road? It has been through F1 races. Ford/Chevy/Mazda have also been through Le mans. It's not that hard for them to build a nice model of supercar. Somehow, they don't do maybe because of profitability or? some other reasons. Check some models like Honda NSX - HP limited as law, Ford GT. I'm in love with all those mid engines. They perform well :)

I see your point but the thing with the pronunciation is that the Britians,speaking english, pronounce the "J", like a German,speaking german, would pronounce the "G". And the problem here is that in the video the name Gallardo is pronounced wrong. Gallardo is a spanish name and in? spain you pronounce the "LL" like a German " G "

dork.....the ford Gt is a copy of the? ford GT40 that was 40 inches tall. A car that was raced against the similiar ferraris and cars like this one the 904-917 series all look basically the same ...Ferrari, lotus etc. have all ratained the rear engine layout, and therefore some body shapes will always be similiar, but the gt40 had a v8 and it was larger like the ferraris and jaguars later

Lamborghini actually refused to loan a car to compete against the Ferrari. .. In another episode with the Ferrari 458 the MT anouncers actually stated that they could not get a hold of the Aventador or the Reventon from any of the lucky few to own the cars or from Lamborghini them selves. So for that episode MT just pitted the? 458 against a Duccati and the motorbike won, but then again you don't have to wory about a gust of wind killing you in a car.

You're silly. The lambo has considerably more horsepower than most of the cars in this race (420-450+hp vrs the lambo's 552hp). Only the Porche has? more - the Lambo has 552 HP, the Porche has 557. Furthermore, the Lambo has all-wheel drive, the Porche does not. This gets the Lambo off the line faster! Learn more, talk less!

Even though i've past my test i still don't know? how to steer properly. I can see in this video how control of the car is maintained by using this technique but i cannot seem to understand how to do it myself. When i try to my hands are all over the place, my arms are crossing over or the movements i do are too small. I steer like a little boy playing 'lets pretend to drive a car'. @tilus75 thanks for your comment. However I disagree with your recommendation. The pull push style I recommend in the video is based on Roadcraft the police drivers handbook. One should look at the turn about to be performed and know whether a turn requires more than fixed input. The sle you are suggesting will require too many movements for a standard 90 degree turn and? if used on an advanced test would definitely cause a lower grade. A a gold level advanced driver I have proven the technique

You don't have to? start the push pull at 12 clock position, quite the opposite, you can apply 210 degrees of motion by fixed hand positions, and then you can start the push pull if you have to. There is no point removing any of your hand to start a winding motion early in the movement. In an ideal situation you do not have to grip the wheel anywhere, but at the 9 3 and 6 hour position, does not matter if you do hand over hand or push pull.

it's pretty amazing that Jenson can figure out most tracks "in about 2 laps", that's crazy. that's what seperates formula one drivers from the rest. there are a lot of fast driver with great car control but it's the f1 drivers ability to? find the fastest line very quickly and stick to it that makes them incredible. Rally drivers too, definitely the most talented drivers are either in F1 or WRC
