They also said there would be hundreds of bunkers which were in play in roped off areas, if this doesn't clarify their position enough then I have no idea what will. I think your american coverage is strange, the UK commentators picked up on it as it happened... they were already asking questions about the shot before he made it to the green.

And what kind of sadistic person would wait until AFTER the winning putt to tell him that the putt wasn't actually for the win, but for T3. DJ would have done the whole celebratory dance and hugs etc, c'mon. The official had no idea? is why. Nobody had any idea until a viewer called in askng if that was in fact a bunker. The walking official talked to the players as they left the green, he clearly understood what had happened and told them before they signed their cards. The penalty is just two strokes, nothing more complex. He had no need to intervene before he did. The PGA interview mentioned specifically that people and carts will drive through bunkers and footprints and tyre imprints are inconsistencies of surface from which there is no relief, all the players? were informed before R1.

- I agree that Kaymer would have won, but instead of remembering the 92nd PGA for Kaymers unshakable clutch performance, in will ALWAYS be seen as the Dustin Johnson bunker controversy.? Also, the very rules sheet heavily cited? by PGA officials said nothing about finding PEOPLE in the bunker with your ball, just evidence that people HAD been there. That was ridiculous. The rules sheet also said that questionable bunkers would be marked by blue dots, of which there were NONE.

- Had he made the putt this would have been an even bigger blunder. The local rule has been heavily criticized since 04' at the same venue prior to the Appleby incident, and has caused controversy in both majors at whistling straights since. The rule should be irrelevant in this case though because there was clearly grass sticking up through the sand even closer to the actual bunker than his ball was, proving said sand was? just spillout created by poorly controlled crowds.

- A foolish mistake that was coincidentally also made during the last PGA championship by veteran professional Stuart Appleby. Also, he received T5, not T3. Furthermore, the hundreds of fans being allowed to stand in that so called "bunker" obscured any vision of a lip from both players, both caddies, all cbs commentators, and the walking rules official. That official had no idea any rule had been broken until nearly 15 minutes later.?

This is by no means the first time a player has been told of rule infractions in the scoring booth. Alternatively they could have NOT told him and have him sign for the wrong score and be DQ'd. I think he got the best out of it, what he deserved, T3, not first. If he had any concerns at all when he was preparing for his shot he should? have communicated them to the walking official for the group. It was a foolish mistake and one even a knowledgeable amateur wouldn't have made.

I have to say, srgios is such a bad loser, he had the audacity to say that had he had a couple of lucky bounces that he would have won it, and he refused to acknowledge how good Harrington was. harrington is one of the most popular players on the circuit, and everyone loves him, because he is a gentleman and a credit to the game.? Sergio has a lot to learn and behaves like a petulant child when it does not go his way. I am a Sergio fan, but he shot down in my mind when he moaned about his luck..

i do agree agree with yous guys. garcia is one of my fav players and i hope he does win a major. garcias play from tee to green is superb and up there with the best. for the first 15 holes he was brilliant. but yet again when push came to? shove over the last few holes he failed to handle the pressure. however all credit to harrington, the guy showed what a great player and a fighter he is.

I'm Irish and I would'nt be too hard on Garcia? ... Harrington had alot af 2nd place finishes early in his career. He is 36 now and has earned the mental toughness it takes to win multiple majors... 3 out of the last 6 is some going even without Tiger .

the difference between? harrington and garcia is that harrington produces the goods when it really matters and has plenty of bottle, whereas garcia does not. garica was great on the front nine but majors are won and lsot on the back nine on sunday. harrington stepped up a gear and showed balls of steel. garcia could not do the same when the pressure was really on. the last few holes showed how much bottle harrington has and how little bottle garcia has.

I have had psoriatic arthritis? for 4 years now I was diagnosed by a Dr at UCLA and it is a miserable disease, the physical pain is only one aspect, the other is support from family, friends and people, they treat you as if you really don't have anything wrong with you. I am on social security disability, walk with a cane, and have to take pain meds (not by choice). It takes over your life you can't work, travel, it takes over your life. I think Phil is brave to expose his disease to help others

Hes right, golf takes a great amount of strength, flexibility and conditioning to play at a high level. Your spine has to be continuously? readjusted because golf is a sport where your body is not moving in a natural motion at all. That's why it takes so much control and patience. Not to mention you put a lot of force and pressure on your knees and especially your legs, which can cause damage or tares, which is what happened to tiger. Another fun side note, golf has the least amount of pros.

Tiger has been turning hard around and then into his left knee pounding golf balls since he was 6 years old. His knee basically broke down. At? the speed pros swing a driver, the head weighs 100 lbs at its fastest point. All that speed and movement can slip disks, dislocate shoulders, sprain wrists, tear knee ligaments etc. Tigers swing is one of the balanced and athletic, but also violent movements in sports, the work it took to build it basically destroyed the cartilage in his left knee.

A big congrats to Graeme, its a huge achievement for Irish golf, thats 4 majors? in 3 years absolutely unbelieveable! He's a credit to Irish Golf and to Ulster!
