A Bald Eagle was on our dock, then it saw a fish. The eagle used its tallons and grabbed the fish, but apprently the fish was too heavy so the eagle started to swim toward shore and then lost the grip on the fish. The eagle then landed on our neighbor's dock to dry off. Sorry that there is no audio.

This was caught on video,upon returning from our first day of fishing .In Petersburgh Alaska,on the Wrangell Narrows. What was thought to be a wounded bird,turned ot to be an American Bald Eagle swimming.Swimming for approximately 50 yards to shore,wiith a shark in it's claws.The shark was too big to fly off with so it swam with it in it's talons,quite sight to behold a swimming eagle.

Your reply thrills me to hear that the Bald Eagle is doing so well. We have several? areas close to where we live that we see a Bald Eagle on occasion. We carry a camera with us almost all of the time anymore! I remember when I saw my 1st Bald Eagle, I was so excited and pumped full of adrenaline, practically screaming at my husband "Oh my God, Oh my God!!!!!" He smiled at my response because he knew that we stood a good chance of seeing at least one as we were along the Miss.River

Thank you for sharing the video, the beautiful music, and this beautiful Raptor. It is such an amazing feat that the Bald Eagle is almost off of the? endangered species list. My husband and I love going on eagle hunts when we go to doctor appointments at the University of Iowa because their are a large number of eagles on the Iowa River that runs through Iowa City and Coralville. We have so many pictures of these great creatures, either flying or perched in a tree or on the ice of the river.

They became endangered for more than one reason however one main reason for their endangerment was because of logging and cutting? down the trees they nest in. When they were put on the endangered species list, it became illegal to cut down trees in the natural habitat of the bald eagle. Now that they are off the list, it is no longer illegal to do so. They may very well end up back on the endangered species list...but I really hope we can learn from our mistakes!

Although I am a bird lover that is not my only issue with this. It is the fact that they have access to bird feathers without killing others. I don't like anything to get shot myself. But you are probably right that it is more because it is a majestic bird that has been delivered from extinction that makes it seems so ridiculous. Oh, also, while it is? pretty dumb to give them the permit to kill Bald Eagles for their little primitive religion, two of them will minimally effect our environment. If you live in Alaska, seeing 20 of them eating out of the garbage isn't a rare sight. This is mostly because it's our national symbol and we have an emotional connection to them. If they were just Peregrine Falcons, this would probably not be much of an issue and we wouldn't bat an eyelash at it.

I praise you for not liking Obama!!! But I can guarantee that he knows of this? and either he or his czars or other thugs had something to do with it. National issues of what? I don't even like Obama, really. He doesn't hold up his promises. ...But I know that with how our government works, Obama doesn't deal with two Bald Eagles when there's national issues that's actually his job to take care of. Hell, he probably doesn't even know? about these eagles! He'll only stick his nose in if this issue got national attention, which it probably won't. This is a job for the EPA or the US Fish and Wildlife Service, not the Head of State.

So what? Why is this even a? story? The bald eagle is alot more 'sacred' to the Arapaho than it is to many Americans. Its also been sacred to them for alot longer, and the only reason this is a 'story' is because the Gov' has been forbidding it for years. Telling the Indians they gotta use road kill or dead lab/zoo specimens is insulting to them, and I'm not surprised. I can safely bet it wasn't THEIR idea for it to become our National Symbol.
