Do you have any numbers in terms of the backward recoil energy for various spring type air rifles? Much like with true rifles, most people don't seem to understand how important weight is when taming such...and a 6.5 pound Crosman 1000 fps .177? (at least the older series types made by China) make a .22 LR seem completely without recoil. it's not that the recoil is tremendous, but I've always wanted to find specific numbers listed for the recoil energy and none have been published.

The gun ( if you bought it new ) is going through its running in phase mate. Dieseling off excess grease/oil depending on how the gun was assembled in factory, it will gradually get better and better over time bud. It will go through loud and quiet phases, as the spring naturally turns and cycles with a shot, so oil/grease moves about a bit. If it still persists? after a few hundred shots, take it back, as you don't want it doing it too much.

I think the last example of this focusing method is wrong, isn't it? The Video shows a motive and the bokeh in the background. So the background is not tharp because the apperture (compare it to the iris of a human eye) is wide open. if you coose a higher aperture at a camera the background becomes sharper. All things considered, here in the U.S. the 5.56mm really is a superior cartridge because of all the different loads available for it. However, with that said, I like the 5.45x39 in the? AK because it's more reliable in the rifle. The AK was designed to make use of the steep taper on the case of the x39 cartridges. It aids in extraction. The 5.56mm AK's don't take the same abuse the x39 AK's do.

There will be less of it "around" after TSHTF, but I find that it's much easier to stock up on 5.45x39 now, since you can buy it in bulk at ridiculously low prices. For example, a 1080 round tin of the 7n6 5.45 ammo he used costs around $150 shipped.? 1,000 rounds of steel cased 5.56/.223 in comparison, will easily be $200 or more. Brass cased 5.56 goes for over $300 per 1,000. The price difference justified 5.45 for me. Finding good surplus mags for 5.45 is the only hard part nowadays.

Way too few shots, and you can hardly use? 2 single rifles of millions out there in existence. Also, the AKs have horrible iron sights. And I think the shooter has a little more experience with Armalites than AKs. Proper accuracy tests need to be done with hand loaded ammo, indoor, and shot from a vice with a proper optic. The "real-life" scenario tests are more answering the question of "which rifle is more accurate FOR ME".

Great? video! My single issue is that when the S hits the F you won't find a lot of 5.45×39mm rounds just laying on the ground (assuming you're in the US). Beyond reliability you have to consider availability of ammo. Five-five-six ammo is everywhere. Otherwise I can't argue with you. Another great video review.

In my opinion the AR15 makes more sense to own because of availability. I accept and know the limitations of the rifle but to me in a SHFTF/WROL situation. I find that being able to find parts and ammo for an Ak series rifle would eventually be harder to find. Most likely imports of foreign manufactured guns and parts would be cut off in such a scenario. I do apprciate the ak for? its rugged reliableness but I think availability would eliminate some of those reliability issues.

I am right there with you sturm. I absolutely love my ARs, for modular conformity and comfort. The rifle can become the ultimate range toy, and competition tool. But when it comes to a rifle I can pick up, and go out the door with...my SGL-31 wins every time. I challenge any AR shooter to claim his or her's rifle has NEVER gone down with over 3000 rounds through it. Well, my AK-74 hasn't - and that is what counts in an? environment when a rifle needs to work RIGHT NOW, no matter what.

If my team is way ahead on tickets I stay at the deployment, and practice burst firing on targets like rocks, or chosen spots on walls. Just practice running, turning and shooting in burst fire will help you turn the corner? a bit faster so you can get in the mix more effectively.

on the subject of atlatl dart V armour... modern arrows can penetrate bullet proof glass because of the stored up energy in the length of the shaft , these darts should have the same affect on balistic type armours designed to disperse a sudden impact not deflect it like the spanish armour (convex) ide? be interested to see atlatl dart v kevlar.

I have a theory that the people who invented the game of lacrosse (the first nations folks in the North-Eastern North America) had adopted ancient atlatl technology! I don't know if it's the type of target I'm using, but I notice? I get a lot of deflections, where the dart simply will not penetrate. It looks to me like you guys employ very little force in your technique, but even when I put substantial force behind mine, my cast just doesn't seem to have enough power behind it. It may be worth noting that I don't have much in the way of upper body strength and cant move more than 40 or 50 pounds very easily. I use Bob Berg's Wyalusing, and 6' target darts.

im throwing 7 foot 8 ounce darts :) i started with 4 ounce darts . then i switched to heavy darts. the heavy darts take a little getting used to but once you adjust? they semm to be very accurate!

I know some guys who regularly hunt deer and pigs with the atlatl. I never have myself. I think it would be an excellent weapon for warfare. Don't know about light armour though. I've seen film of tests? with attempts to penetrate replicas of Spanish armor (as the Aztecs were reported to have done), but modern atlatlists were unable to penetrate the armor with stone points.
