You never have to relax the containment until the ball is gone. The idea is to build it in pre-shot and never give it up. You wouldn't cut the chain on a wrecking ball before it slammed into a building? The club's inertia will release itself...and? it will do it the same way everytime unless you 'add' something. You can add something to hit a different shot, but you wont have to add power at the same time you are doing that....and that's the key.

I got it & correct me if I'm wrong Martin. By keeping the containment of the club at address (normal address) through the backswing, you build that energy that delivers into the ball? without swinging the club around you. Never give up the containment of the club until your ready to release it. Is that right Martin?

It is more powerful because you are 'past' yourself and don't have to swing it around you. The truth is that it's already outside you normally and you? still don't have to swing it around you. I hope this drill gives you that feeling and you can transfer it to your normal set up. Have you ever seen a Golf swing that wasn't 'around' the player?

Martin..I believe you've cracked the code with? this. I hung with Count Yogi, Austin, and Norwood for years. This move is the cherry on top. Moving the swing center to the rear makes all the difference. The pectoral grab lets me forget about everything to become the clubface..as Yogi used to say. Thanks a ton.

Been working with this method for about a week and it's really amazing. Buy the video for $35 and watch it a couple of times and you'll get it. One key for me was staying? connected with my left upper arm to my left pec. That makes the first move easier like this video shows and you have the power that that pressure point always delivers on the way down. You really have a sense of where the face is the whole swing. Yes you see a wide variety of swing styles on the various tours, but if you ever take the time to step through them frame by frame you will see they all have a common impact position with regard to the hands. Perry, Gulbis, JM Singh, Furyk, et al have the flat left wrist with the? hands leading at impact and the body rotating open letting the hands and arms swing freely (without the wrist breaking down). This device is a great tool for helping you get a mental image of how that looks and feels.

I have the Taly and its great for short game. It took me a while to figure out its? benefits for the long game until I found out that the wrist holds firm but has to rotate. Vertical uncocking and rotation of the left wrist is OK, but no horozontal flipping motion allowed. You won't hit the red ball if you rotate wrist after full arm extension.

And please note that I don't speak for Lynn (visit LynnBlakeGolf) and that we are not golf instructors. We are engineers. Yes, one way to swing or move the hands would be to swing or move the arms. But you could also hold your arms stationary relative to your chest and simply turn your chest and body. Q1)? There are different ways to prevent left wrist breakdown. I like a firm left wrist

Lynn/Taly - wouldn't you actually say, "You have to swing the arms?" Of course, if the goal is to swing the hands, then the only way to do it is to swing the arms. Right? 1) Do you intentionaly hold the left wrist in a 'locked' or firm position to keep the left hand from breaking forward/ahead or are your wrists relaxed and not firm? It looks like you're holding the left wrist firm and solidly straight in that position AND then moving that 'locked' position thru the ball? ? Great video !!

Thanks for posting @nsaminder. I can sort of see what you are saying but you are basically suggesting one of the simplified moves we've posted and simply holding your hinge. Also, your method will be more difficult because it takes even longer for your clubhead to get to the ball because you have hinged. If your clubhead is further back, it won't be as repeatable and probably not as much power transferred. Post a video when you? get a chance as there are many ways to hit a ball.

the only question i have here is that by putting the club between the top of the palm and the fingers on the left hand (for a right handed golfer) wouldn't that naturally make the top hand a touch on the stronger side? also i've been? noticing the top hand of a lot of tour players: mcilroy, rose etc is more on the strongish side, 2.5 - 3 knuckles and obviously they're hitting it great???

Hi Mark Great video and it makes perfect sense. I play off 9 but have always struggled with high over draws as I call them. I'm now pulling through the shot rather than using the right arm..just can't understand why Ben Hogan wanted 3 right arms? Can you clarify that by weakening the left hand you pull through the shot. Mark, you have a real talent for spotting the subtle flaws that seem to have major impact on beginners like me. First was the proper rotation in "Backswing Body Turn For Straighter Golf Shots", which really helped me a lot. On this one, I thought I had a pretty good neutral grip. However, I have been hitting left a lot. Turns out I had a strong? grip with the right hand. This video has help me fix that. Thanks again for some really great instruction!

Great lesson Mark. Very hard to change your grip when it's been strong for years. I found it really difficult. One thing that helped me was a Leadbetter grip trainer. You can buy a club pre-fitted with one of these for about £10-£15. Are there any training aids out there you would recommend? to help you take the correct grip?

Hi Mark, This is spot on to my problem I am having? right now with my game. I have rather large hands (XXL Glove) when I finish my swing the club-face is closed. I Have re gripped my clubs tried the Cross Line Jumbo, Winlite Midsize built up with tape, and still the same issue. I recently tried the Jumbo Max on a 7 Iron it has stop the severe hook but I am not happy with the shot shape. Is there any suggestion in terms of grip size in relation to my issue? Thanks DB

It is a real chicken and egg situation with the grip. Sometimes I catch myself changing my grip to compensate for another problem; set up, swing plane etc. I have learned that to change from the correct grip is to take two steps back, for i will have to fix the original problem and the grip.? And when you change your grip it has a outside the comfort zone feeling and really requires a leap of faith to commit too.

you are so right!! i use a neutral grip also. everybody always tells me that i'm using a weak grip but the V's on my fingers point up to my chin. But the another important thing what people dont realize also is grip pressure. i used to grip the club at probably 8(10 being the strongest). couldnt release the club face and always blocking cause i was afraid of a pull. then i changed my grip pressure to probably a 4 or 5 and KABOOM!! Total BOMB Release!!? its crazy what a light grip pressure can do!

Really good video thanks. I had a grip to far over and was changed in a lesson to what you call a strong grip, which worked for a while but now i have the issues you describe in this video. The nuetral position? you show is probably inbetween where i was to where I am now so cant wait to try it out and hopefully get back on track again.

I had a strong grip then I changed to a neutral grip. I sometimes still have a strong grip with my driver because you play the driver of of your front foot it is hareder for me to change, It is more of a? stretch. My bad shot with my driver goes right not left though.

I got my dad's old Taylormade V-steel woods refitted with Aldila voodoo shaft and golf pride grip and that voodoo was taken from a 909D2 driver a? cut it down by one inch. So I got a 44 inch 3 wood technically that's the standard length of driver.

The driver is INCREDIBLE! I bought it last week..Hit it into the screen at Golftown 340yrds total..swing speed 130mph..they have? to crank the screen up because I have never hit a driver that far before..without wind or a generous bounce off the cart path of course lol..I especially never had a swing speed over 115mph. I came on to the shot..swung my dick off..but still..those numbers..at least for me..are personal bests. It felt great too..highly recommend it..i went with the tour model.

Nice club, but these things aren't even 3 woods anymore. This was the driver of the 90's... same length shaft,? same size head, similar lofted face, with more MOI. Put that in the hands of a long hitter, and you're going to get over 300 yrds anyway.
