Great video! Question: I have read lots of different views on squaring by rotating your forearms and also by simply letting the club return to the square position at address? by extending both arms after contact. Watching your video, you seem to do a bit of both, where you have great extension through impact, but also manipulate the ball by rotating your forearms. What are your swing thoughts, do you consciously think of your hands rotating?

Hi Jay, right arm only drills are a great way to get a feel of how the right side of the body works in a golf swing. Often the right side? can be underutilized, and as a result create less club head speed. In theory, learning the correct control of the right side of your body will help you with your distance. :-)

There is no such a thing as the perfect golf swing. There is probably 200 small things which makes or breaks a golf swing. Two negatives can neutralize to a positive. My grip doesn't make any? sense and my stance doesn't either, but I can hit the ball 310 yards or so and make my birdies. There's no thing like a good golf swing. Jack Nicklaus, one of the greatest golfers of all time, had a strange swing. Jim Furyk has one, not one swing is identical. Just stick with what you feel is best.

One of the problems beginners experience, is their backswing is too fast. Your backswing can be super slow and does not change your power or accuracy, so practive pausing at the top of your swing. The other mistake is "jabbing" at the ball, whereby? you pull out of that follow through. Therefore you are relying on your hand speed to generate ball speed.

It is supposed to snap forward after the bottom of the swing, that's why the golf ball is positioned just inside the front foot and not in? the middle of the swing. Snapping forward at the bottom of the swing would cause topped shots or high-flying balls that don't go very far forward at all. And no shaft fitter for a professional golfer bends as much as is represented in this video. It is the shutter design of the camera, not the shaft.

While I agree about releasing at the point of contact, the bent shaft you see is an illusion. This was shot with a DLSR that shoots video. It can't keep up with the speed of Woods's shaft. What you see at 31 seconds is actually the shaft and clubhead position miliseconds AFTER? the position of his hands and mid/upper shaft. To see the same video "slant" move an iPhone quickly while shooting video. He may be releasing early but it's not really this dramatic.

You will feel the texture of the sand through the feet and if you keep the focus on using momentum to move the sand forward using the sole of the club, you will feel exactly how much momentum you will need to use! Super lesson! I tried this at the range today and it truly worked. Best thing about it was I wasn't focused on getting the ball onto the green from the bunker but imagining how much momentum it would take to get the divot of sand out. Shawn, thanks for the? video. I have tried your thought of imagining the momentum required to toss the sand to the hole. I have since had 3 sand shots in 2 games. 2 shots bounced in the hole for birdies (no lie). One went by the hole and stopped within "gimmie" range. I did open a 60 degree wedge with a cut swing. I surprised myself as I don't usually get my sand shots close to the hole. I hope I see more of it. Thanks again!
