I think tricks are fine, but how foolish is it to work so hard to perfect tricks yet go an entire career being unable to land even the most basic jumps consistently? Who cares about a Russian split if you can't even land a double toe without wobbling? Sasha was a one dimensional skater who would have been better suited for Ice Capades where style matters more than substance...she had gorgeous artistry but lacked the? talent required to be a champion.

Michelle really cannot be compared to other skaters, I don't think anyway. She was and is truly in a class all her own. I love how solid and secure and true her edges are going into her jumps-every jump- you knew she was going to clean before she ever left the ice. I've not seen that from anyone since. Not taking anything away from all the great skaters that are competing now, but Kwan is still the best jumper as far as the correctness and solidarity of technique. Simply and purely? exquisite.

Michelle competed against many other skaters, not just Sasha. I loved Sasha's elegance. You're barking up the wrong tree. Don't put words into other peoples mouths. And yes, I care? for simple elegance...which could mean bland and mediocre for other people. So what?

Other than the occasional technical mishap on jumps, Sasha Cohen was the most well rounded, athletic, and just plain beautiful and fun to watch skater in modern history. I was thrilled to watch Sasha skate whereas Michelle? was often nice to watch but not as thrilling.

Her buttocks are below her knee at 2:55, and her position at 4:19 wasn't too bad because she was going into a spin... To call her sit spins "awful" is over the top and wrong, IMO. Her posture in them were always first rate (as? Dick Button would put it) and her positions looked fine.

Michelle Kwan+Lyrica Angelica=JOY. Of all her performances, this is my favorite, but there were so many wonderful ones over the years. She gave us so much. I don 't see any other skaters out there now who are likely to do this. Times and scoring are different now, but Michelle had an extra something that? cannot be taught....

Oh, thank you so much for your postings. Heated debate is good because that means people are passionate? and care about the subject. A few are those unfortunates who can only feel good about themselves when they trash others. But mostly, it is good to have a forum. And you provide a valuable one. "Lyrica Angelica" is peerless. 14 years ago, OMG that makes me feel old, but I guess I am.... A joy to watch, along with so many of your other vids.
